STILL a rough ride. HELP!!!

Hi everybody,

this is my first post on this site but read a lot from it. To begin my problem I feel like my ride is really rough over certain bumps.

The things i have done to counteract this are:
Tokico HP blues (all around)
new lower control arms (both front)
new ball joints and tie rods (both front)
all ready had eibach springs (not sure if it is 1.5 or 2) for the most effective answers please answer for a 2" drop

Things that I think could cause this:
No front bump stops
Eibach springs getting old? (thought springs last a lifetime)
Tokico blues cant handle 2" drop
No camber kit
running Nankang NS-1 215(or 225 i forget)/45/R17.
Roads in Long Island and Queens are just plain crap?

Additional info that i feel might be important:
After I installed the lower control arms (did each side seperately do to money issues) the ride was where i wanted it to be but would go back to rough maybe 3 weeks later.

Any ideas? Am I missing something obvious? I might be putting on General UHP's today but idk yet cause I don't know how much the tires could be effecting it.

Re: STILL a rough ride. HELP!!!

alot has to do with tire size 17s are a rough ride. how long have the blues been on a 2 inch drop ??? blues are valved differentially then stock so they wont be as comfortable and thats not saying much because stock is not the most comfortable ride either. you cant expect the most comfortable ride with your setup.

Re: STILL a rough ride. HELP!!!

I run Neuspeed lowering springs, with 18's and when I bought the car, it rode terrible. The shocks were all blown out. I have since installed KYB AGX adjustable all around and the ride is much improved. I do run it at the second to hardest setting though. Your TOKICO blues may not be able to dampen those Eibach springs sufficiently so you might consider going to an adjustable shock like AGX, or KONI etc. Its NEVER going to ride a comfortable as stock!!! The car handles very well now btw.

Re: STILL a rough ride. HELP!!!

**** was hoping with enough things changed I could make it ride like a g35. Guess I'm gunna cancel buying those tires then. Thx for the info tho. Guess its time to save for a new car love this car but hate when i hit a bump my car feels like it got punched.

This concludes a k20 project before it even begun lol.

Re: STILL a rough ride. HELP!!!

some eibach applications requires trimming your bump stops look it up yourself . but removing them completely is just stupid.

don't worry, the emoticons are for myself, not for you.
Yeah, i forgot i was in the civic forum, i have a miata too and they have a lot more aftermarket bumpstops, that was the reason i said different ones. civics are more on the trimming the stops, so ouch to me! i am the one getting beat here!

Re: STILL a rough ride. HELP!!!

well thats the thing i didn't know i didnt have bumpstops. They put on the shocks and never mentioned that to me until i asked them if i had bumpstops. On that note I'm gunna go check if my shocks are blown out. If they are im gunna be ****in pissed because they never mentioned **** to me. If they arent then idk.

Will getting bump stops stop this loud thud i hear when going over slightly bigger bumps? Thought it just stops your car from bottoming out unless i always bottom out and just didn't know it.

Re: STILL a rough ride. HELP!!!

it stops the damper from being damaged in the event of bottoming out they should have reused the stock bump stops and modified them.

shocks vs bumpstop rubber (or soft compound) - will happen, but what give and deform is the stops.
Shocks vs whatever is above (not soft, does not compress) - what give and deforms (a bit, before blowing) is the shock...
