Yes its a ripoff!!! Shocks/springs are about 4 hours of labor so coilovers should be way less time. It shouldn't cost you more than $500 with what you just said. Find another shop to go to if you can't diy.

thats preeetty expensive. but you gotta put some lube on and bend over if ur not willing to DIY. thats just how it goes with this hobby.
Re: tuner shop quote rip or not???
man i cant tell you i wish i could do it myself i know nothing about suspension i hear its fairly simple but should i chance f**king something up and possibly hurting myself or sombody else
Re: tuner shop quote rip or not???
rip off.... honestly dude.. if you have tools, know basic wrenching skills/techniques, and have a do it yourself article, i believe you can do it. its really not that difficult. even if it may take you 10 hours to do it... i would take 10 hours my time any day to save 500 bucks. but get the alignment done at a shop.
that is actually what inspired me to work on my car myself, i took my car to a few shops before and i was like **** im getting raped on labor, paying 1000s of dollars. i watched them work on my car and i thought to myself hey that doesnt look that hard. and now i do all the work on my car myself.. now with that knowledge i think i have saved 10s of thousands of dollars in labor costs.

I go to a local Midas where I live lol. They know me well and never rip me off even when I bring my own stuff. Don't diy bc if your car is old and being that we live in the north east chances are your bolts will be rusted and seized. Thats how mine were and I had to get new tie rod ends in the process since threads were stripped trying to get them off.

I've heard $100 a corner. Thats kinda fair, $200 a corner is not fair, thats an *** ramming. The rears take half an hour each, the fronts can take up to an hour and a half if you have to fight with them. Honestly, find some local people and pay them with beer and food.

^^yea, $100 per corner is more the norm. who is this tuner shop? have someone recommend you a reliable local shop and it'll be closer to what everyone else has said.

Yeah it's high, but not THAT high. That's quite a bit of stuff to install, and with the labor on the compliance bushings and the sway bar (which often has extremely difficult endlinks to get off), not to mention the tie rods, that's really not that much higher then what it should be. $500 would be more reasonable though...and it doesn't need to be a tuner shop to install those things. Many regular mechanics will do it also, and probably for less. The tuner shop is probably hitting you higher since they're your parts also.
Edit: I just checked out xxtuning's website, and they look like a quality shop, but they also have a LOT of overheard = you paying more. If you need tuning work, they're probably good, but for simple suspension stuff, save your money and take it to a smaller shop that just does regular repairs and is willing to install aftermarket parts.

Re: tuner shop quote rip or not???
hay thanks for the info guys you have inspired me to do it myself ive never done thise before so ill take my time and do it rite measure twice cut once.but i will have the compliance bushings done at a shop i dont have the tools and that just looks like a complete headache .
Re: tuner shop quote rip or not???
Good choice
There's a spring and shock install DIY somewhere that got me through doing it the first time. The only thing that happened to me was that all of my bolts loosed up over a few days time, so make sure to recheck all your bolts every now and then!
For the compliance bushings, you can save yourself some money by taking the arms of the car yourself and taking them to have them pressed out and then re-installed!

Re: tuner shop quote rip or not???
can you use lock-tite on the threads and also how many pounds did you tourq the bolts maybe you did it wrong iv seen two different diys with two different foot pounds im going to purchase the service book to be sure.
Re: tuner shop quote rip or not???
Yeah, in fact threadlocker (Loc-Tite) is exactly what I used after I found that they were loose. Just make sure you use the "blue" not the "red". Blue will come off with a lot of force, where as the red takes heat+force, which is a bit excessive for this application. Also, you can get whatever brand is cheaper...it doesn't have to be Loc-Tite brand. Getting the service manual wouldn't be a bad idea (get a Helms manual if you can afford it), but if you do some searching you can probably get the torque numbers you need without it.
I also had issues with my spring perches (The adjusting rings) loosening up on me, and put threadlocker on those...DON'T do that, haha. I had to adjust them with a hammer and screwdriver which got old real fast. Not to mention they're aluminum so it nicked them up pretty badly.

Re: tuner shop quote rip or not???
I'll probably tell you what everyone else is saying.
I don't think it's a ripoff, but it's hella expensive.
rip off would be like 1000 bucks...guess it depends on your idea of a ripoff.
Investing in a set of craftsman wrenches is a great idea. Doing your own work is rewarding, and inexpensive. The more you do, the more you'll wanna do.
