?? other reason for white smoke other then head gasket related problems??
hey everyone,
this is my third post... ive been having issues with my 04 turbocharge civic, it overheats everyday and continues to work fine, im getting alot of white smoke all of a sudden after getting an alignment for meineke. and all of a sudden smoke from the engine. im thinking maybe he sabotaged my engine cause he did an alignment!! but anyways, crack my engine open recently thinking i had to replace the head gasket and it was fine.. .so i dont know what else it could be... also im running very rich.. anyone have any thoughts? thanks

is there coolant leak somewhere splashing on hot engine parts? maybe from a hose, radiator, overflow tank, etc.

yeah there is coolant splash that does go on hot parts, that im familiar with that but its never the amount of smoke that has been coming out recently, what color does fresh synthetic oil burn?

lol all oil will burn like white smoke. Either your burning extreme amounts of oil or you are burning coolant somewhere. We cant tell you where.

Triz is correct.
Oil burns dark with a blue tint, this applies to both dyno(convention) and synthetic oils.
If you are seeing a white smoke then you are most likely seeing vaporized coolant.
Smell the smoke; if it has a sweet smell then it's ethylene glycol(coolant) if it’s a burning smell then it's oil related (could also be transmission fluid).
You will also see a large quantity of white smoke with a strong grey tint when running very rich.
BTW:
If your turboed and have a ritch mixture I would one) check for leaky injectors and two) get your computer dyno-tuned asap.

THANKS EVERYONE!! well i found out i was burning coolant!! my reservoir tanks erupts coolant like a volcano. and i have to tie a string to my cap now so i dont have to keep buying caps for the reservoir tank. anyone know why a reservoir coolant tank would erupt everywhere and i just replaced my radiator cap recently too, so im sure its not the cap. and its a koyo radiator as well.... thanks again.. if you have any questions for a better diagnostic just ask and i'll answer as promptly as possible
