Side airbag light

I had my dog in the front seat laying all day and in the afternoon the side airbag light said it was off. It would be off for a couple miles and be back on. I know the passenger airbag shuts off with certain weight is on it. That was off too. Does any one know if this will happen with nothing in the seat? Or should I go to the dealer??Thanks

the air bag is designed to go off if there is not enough weight in the seat say a child under 40 pounds, the air bag deploying would hurt the child.
also even a normal person ie. my girlfriend weighs 135 pounds, but she likes to sit with her leg underneath her in the seat, and without her weight being placed evenly the airbag will also not deploy because the position that she is sitting in could compromise her health if the airbags deploy and impact ehr at a strange angle.
