Hooked up some subs ... but they go in and out... help me out
Installed this in a friends truck. We installed 4 15s. But when I turn the volume up halfway the subs go in and out. I checked the clipping light on the amp and it doesnt turn on so I dont know what the problem could be. I have 2 15s MBQ hooked up to 1 1000w MBQ Amp (Rockford Power) same amp. I hooked up the other two and it was the same thing. Can anyone help me out? Hes also has a yellowtop and a 12 farad stinger cap.

yah...the bass is drawingg too much current from the stock alternator i assume. my does this. get another, HO alternator... ie laterstart, Ohio Gen., irraggi, etc. that problem will stop. or loose wires, ground upgrded?
they the moving in and out slowly?? could be the ohms load is too low maybe or an amp problem, ive seen this happend to 5.25s in my buddys door it was bc of the amp. also check your rcas in the deck and amp could be something small!
check the gain, it sounds like its sending it into protect at high volumes, if the gains been messed with and you have a dmm, take it and measure how many volts its putting out, set it to this formula:
volts = square root of RMS times Ohm load
volts = square root of RMS times Ohm load
sure its a stinger cap? stinger doesnt made a 12 farad cap.....not trying to start **** just an observation... im gonna guess ground issue, amp problem. ive got a 1200.1 planet audio and 300.4 planet audio amp, interior led's HID headlights, in dash dvd player, running off of stock alternator, stinger battery, and three farad stinger cap and my voltage doesnt ever drop below 12 volts even while pounding the system...... under normal listening levels stays at about 13.5 volts

like i said before if youve got the optima battery i gotta stick with a grounding problem. im running roughly 2400 watts rms, in dash dvd, interior leds, and HID headlights and i have no problems at all. stinger battery, 3 farad stinger cap.

i still think its an ohm load issue
i've run upwards of 2500 rms (am actually in the process of installing 3000 rms) on a stock civic electrical system...
amps never shut down on me

4 subs 2ohms each on 1 amp i believe ur running a total of 0.5 ohms, and such a big cap i dont think u need, i think the rule of thumb is 1farad per 1000 watts but w/e floats ur boat. so u may wanna double check ur ohm load, to be sure. well good luck.
