bad alpine mp3 problem
i have an alpine 9847 for almost a year now, well recently its been having problems playing brand new mp3 discs. it starts playing fine at the beginning, but as the cd goes forward, it starts skipping more and more. by the last song, it skips every second almost. i put the cd in my computer and it plays fine. i even recorded it low speed. now also this problem happened after i installed winxp and roxio cd creater. could it be the software? but why would it hardly skip at the beginning and then get worse to the end? i need some help here cause i cant listen to music like this.

its a cd with just mp3s no folders. i have one disc with 6 files and another with 100. it does it with both same thing. ive tried different brands, idk doesnt work. the best buy said laser is out of alignment but wtf? not even a year old. i planned on keeping this for as long as the car. if this is aftermarket quality, idk what to do. and the thing is it does not do anything when playing regular cd with wav files. perfect playing. hmm? everyone says youre not supposed to use cleaning discs in slot cd players, even the manual.

ay its software looks like, i tried the windows xp burner and its alot better. it only skipped a few times in minutes. so we'll see. and the funny thing is the xp burner uses roxio software.

they are all sorts of bitrates from 128 to 192 usually. the deck plays up to 320 i believe, pretty much anything. it got much better after using windows burning but still a few skips here and there. its okay for now at least.

sheesh well i reloaded winme and all my old software from an image exact how it was before, it is doing the same thing skipping like crazy. idk what to do now. i guess im taking it in to see if they can fix it. i can't believe this would happen to an alpine and especially not even a year after i bought it. retarded.

well i literally went back in time to when i was burning perfect cds. complete disk image restore and i burned the cd with old software on winme just as before. there is no way its the computer now im sure of it. everything i play the cd on is perfect, even other standalone mp3/dvd players and my computer. the alpine is able to play regular music cds, both commercial or cdr doesnt matter. its mp3 that causes the problem with skipping. any more advice? also i didnt have this problem til just two weeks ago, i've been making cds with winxp and ezcd for at least a few months without issue. so nothing on my part is changing.
Not really. If MP3 CDs that used to play OK don't anymore, it's probably the Alpine. The thing that stands out is that it doesn't matter if the disc is full or not. That says that the skipping isn't based on the position of the data on the disc which you would expect with an alignment error.
It almost seems like a software error on the Alpine. My Eclipse has a reset button. Do Alpines have the same thing?

yea i actually just ran out and tried the reset button. nothing. i actually even dug up an old cd that i made a year ago in the back seat and even it was skipping. so the alpine is defective. hopefully they can fix it but it worries me that something would happen so fast. i dont wanna have to worry about this all the time if out of nowhere it starts skipping again. and i love the lighting on it thats the only reason i got it. couldnt find a single deck that has all amber display and white lcd. have you? because if they cant fix it i need something else. matching is very important for me, and mp3 playback. and i treated this alpine so good. always took the face in when it was sunny, never dropped or got it wet, there are almost no scratches anywhere.

i dropped it off at stupid best buy, its gonna be at least 3 weeks to get it back. so i did a quick splice with an old old alpine deck. it has not even skipped once and this was the cd i pulled from the trash cause i left the new one in the broken deck.
