k20a or f20c?
k20a or f20c?
found a k20a engine but dumb expensive, $5K+ but the place gives everything needed for the swap.
they also had a f20c which was half the price of the k20a but i'm not sure if it fits into my '03 civic ex cpe. im running on a A/T and basically converting to a M/T so can anybody tell me what might be needed and what changes must be done to my engine bay to fit a f20c if its even possible?

F20C is not a straight bolt on. Have fun with that, you would have to custom fab mounting brackets...the motor sits at a 90degree angle and I don't even know if it will fit without having to hack away at the firewall or rad support. Plus you'd have to convert your car into RWD which means you'll need a drive shaft, rear dif, axels, relocate your fuel tank... and a **** load of other parts. I could go on for days.
It's definatly not worth it... get the K20

the f20c bolts to the k20 tranny... so you can fwd it but can the k20 trans take the f20's rpms? ...
theres a thread on it here or somewhere but someone found out that the f20 bolts to the k20 tranny.. so you can fwd it .. but the mounts and that ****...
the f20 into a fwd trans and into our vic is a complete PRO only job i would say..
im doing the k20a3 swap for the lower compression seeing how im doing forced induction... the k20a3 is around 1500 bucks for motor and stuff where as the k20a2 is more expensive.. im doing FI and the lower compression of the k20a3 is more economical for my budget and plans ...
but its his call.. the f20 does bolt to the k20 tranny but GOOD LUCK on getting into the civic.. also the wiring would be different too..
id say do a K series swap if your interested and theres more than enough info on this site about it...theres a DIY , all the info you need on aftermarket accesories for the new motor into your car.. and everything.. even the wiring diagram for the behind the dash re pinning of the gauge cluster to make the RSX or Civic Si ECU display the correct info...
good luck on your swap tho ..

damn so the work/$$$ involved with doing a f20c swap would be really high then. only reason i asked was because i coulda gotten it for half the price of the k20a...
a f20c vic would be nuts but for the amount of money involved i think i`ll just settle with the k swap. (at most $9K for parts/engine/labor) =x

well here is how i see it.. by the time you are done getting everything custom made to make a f20 to fit in your car... the cost would be the same.. if not more than the cost of putting a k20 into your car.. it would be nice... but if you run into any problems you wont have much support from us about it.. THINK ABOUT IT

It bolts up with an adapter plate, not directly.
Anyways, this seeminly silly question has been asked before, repeadly, by many overly ambitious newbies. Search it.
