Wiring question...

Can u wire more than 1 thing to the same power wire? I wired 1 switch that turns 2 neon tubes on and off to the back of the cigerette lighter for power, could i wire as many things as i want to that power wire, or do i need to find a differnt wire to get power from?

Ok, I don't know 100% if this is right or not, but I believe that you first have to find out what the maximum rating on the fuse to that wire is, and then you can determine how many accessories to hook up. Like if the fuse has a 30 amp rating, then you could run 2 15 amp accessories or 1 30 amp accessory.

Most switches only have an amperage rating of 10-15 amps. While you can find a larger switch, there is an easier and better way to do it.

Go to Radio Shack and buy a SPST Bosch relay.

Wire it as follows. Run your 10-12 gauge power wire from your power source (probably your battery). Make sure there is a fuse within 12 inches of the battery connection. Place a fuse no larger than 30 amps! This fuse is not to protect your little neon lights, it is to protect your car in case the wire shorts out on a piece of metal. It is much nicer to blow a 30 amp fuse than to have that wire melt all along your car until it burns off the battery.

Now, connect the wire to terminal 30 of the relay and the constant or feed of the switch. Connect the ACC or other terminal of the switch to terminal 85 on the relaly. Ground terminal 86. Connect your lights to terminal 87. That is it, except I would add up all the fuses from your neon lights and put an inline fuse for that amount between 87 and the lights. Now your switch will turn on the relay and it will turn on the neon lights. The relay will handle 30 amps, which is more than your lights should put out.

Your cigarette lighter circuit will not handle very much current being pulled from it. So this will allow you to run your lights and not burn anything out.
