I've searched but still need help on: SRS Light
Hello everyone,
I've been having a bit of a problem with my SRS light. First time it came on, I reset it myself using the DYI then it came back on after a couple of days. I took the car (01 Civic LX Coupe) to the dealership, they ended up replacing the ODPS? unit and the battery saying that it was malfuctioning and that the battery was low or something like that. A few days after that the light came back on and I took the car in again, they said it was the same thing (interference from another electronic device in the passenger seat) and replaced the ODPS unit again under parts warranty from the first one. They told me not to let anyone use anything such as a laptop in the car, especialyl in the passenger seat because it would trigger the SRS unit. Today, one day after the second replacement of the ODPS unit, the light came back on with only my cell phone in my pocket as an electronic device that could possibly cause interference. The only other thing that I can think of is my radio a Kenwood Excelon x869 but it has never given me this problem in the 2 years Ive had it. Does anyone have any other suggestions???? Please help I am frustrated and Im afraid the only thing Honda will do is replace the unit again and again until I sell my car.

take it to an shop that can permanently get rid of that issue rather than the dealer. if not that, demand to have honda replace your vehicle with a legit one. but seeing that you're an 2001...not sure on that last one.
Last time I had this much fun some furniture got broken!

Check as well that all your airbags are properly connected. If you have a disconnected airbag or one with bad wiring your SRS light can keep coming on even though a reset will temporarily turn it off. I had this problem in my car, turned out one airbag plug was disconnected somehow.

for me it was unplugging the seat belt signal wire under the seats while the battery was connected. if they disconnect again you will need to reset again. def check all your connections
nice solution
better not yawn inside the car as well
are you still within warranty?

the whole srs system can be a pain in the ***. I had my SRS light turn on after my cable reel (the contacts attached to the steering column) was damaged. The system read it as my airbag being disconnected. If your cable reel isn't making proper contact (intermittent problem) it might cause your light to come on.
Sounds like the dealership is just replacing stuff and making up excuses since they can't properly diagnose the problem. There's no way that a head unit, cell phone or laptop should cause those problems.
Maybe it's time to take it to a different stealership.
