suspension help??
suspension help??
I've got an 02' civic coupe ex model. I've had ground control coilovers on for a year and a half. I just took them off because my rear end was giving and shocks were till good. I contacted ground control and they sent me a replacement. That did not work. Started sagging in rear again. I got so tired of it I put my factory springs back on. Now I'm getting a popping noise on my front right spring. When I first put ground control on I got the same popping noise. I went to my local honda dealer and bought an o- ring that fixed the problem. Now that I have the factory springs back in I went to honda again and bought yet another o-ring thinking it would fix it. It didn't work. Now I'm getting pissed. My friend from Honda has an suspension setup off of a 02'-03' civic si hatchback. I wondering if it will be a direct bolt up or not. I'm just curious and don't know what to do. Any help would be appreciated.

1) you are on stock shocks and they are probably blow, hence the sagging
2) You did not index the shock and the mount correctly, hence the popping.
It is not GCs fault. It is bad install and bad decision on not get aftermarket shocks.
No, the Si suspension will not fit.

ok first off after a year and a half of having the gc's on, THE rear of the car started sagging. The shock was not blown at the time of having the coilovers on. GC sent me replacements for rear and they worked for maybe a week then it to started sagging. Getting fed up with the problem I took the GC's off and put my factory springs back on. Maybe I said shock in my first post but I meant spring setup. After putting my factory springs back on it started popping again just like before when i put the gc's on. I bought a (0-ring) don't really know what its called exactly but it did not work and I still have popping noise with factory springs. I know that its not ground control's problem. I never said it was but you wouuld think that I would have never had a problem since they are McPherson. I was just letting people know why I'm asking if the 02'-03' civic hatchback spring setup will work. I don't really have time to go and take my factory back off to see if they fit or not. I would like to know for sure. Yes I had factory shocks on my car the whole time I had the ground control on my car and never had a problem. Now when I put my factory back on my rear driver side shock blew, but when I had gc on it was my rear passenger side that was sagging.

Mcpherson vs DW is not a difference in the shocks. The strut is different, but they still both use shocks. If you look at full coils, you see that the DW vs. Mcpherson shocks are the same, they just have different bottom mounts. Stock shocks lowered on = extra stress.
As for the popping, it doesn't matter what springs you put on it. If you don't index stock shocks and mounts correctly it will pop. There is a thread about indexing in the suspension FAQ.
The Si shocks will fit, but not without some modification. The springs will fit, but they aren't built for the civic's weight distribution and will look funny on your car.
You can not take me seriously and do whatever you choose. I am not trying to be demeaning or mean, but the only solution is to get aftermarket shocks with either your GCs or stock spring (or full coils) and do a CORRECT install. That's all.
thanks for your help. At first i thought you were just coming off all wrong. Maybe it was the people that did it for me. I will try to look at the index faq and figure it out. I appreciate it. I will post wahtever i find out.
Wait, you had ground controls on your car and the springs sagged in and you were not happy with the ride height? Why didnt you just raise the rear ride height via the adjustable collar on the ground controls? Or am I missing something here?
