its odd to see the ebay prices are higher than the dealers lol.

but idk about megan racing coilovers. they make good cheap products at a good price but theres something about meganracing i wouldnt go with. i have there exhaust downpipe and its great, but coilovers is serious **** and i wouldnt personally trust megan on that one until i an proven wrong.

probably because they havent been out long enough to earn good rep? but let us know how it works out if you plan to go that route. FYI, you also have other choices if your spending 900 on full coilovers

I talked to a guy who is sponsored by megan racing (I didn't know they sponsor?) and he said the place that makes them also makes the apex'i ones and that they're the same ...

^ yes. but if apex = megan, then megan > tein

as far as product quality goes... not talking about the name.

Personally, I'd avoid about 90% of the prebuilt coilovers on the market...

Take The "coilovers" Posted in this thread

32 levels adjustable:

1-8: suggest for race tracks use
9-16: suggest for mountain anfraciousity use
17-32: suggest for street use
Ok.. 32 levels of adjsutment? That tells me presicely Squat about the damper. what gets adjusted? Rebound? Bump? both? And then they go on and suggest damper settings for different uses? That tells me that they dont know a thing about tuning handling with dampers. Not to mention the questionablity of the dampers them selves, Have they been dyno tested before being sold? and on their 32 levels of adjustibilty how much of a difference is there between setting 1 and setting 32? And how liniar is the progression? Ect ect ect... There are too many questions unanswered.

any way, done with the rant.

I really respect you zzyzx with your knowledge on suspension parts. But this time, you might want to do more reserach. Megan coilovers are the same as apexi becasue they are both made by BC. Reviews on clubrsx will make you think twice about these coilovers. I am personally a vendor for megan on eby and also use these coilovers on my tl. I suggest if 04trinicivic if you want a stiff ride and great handling, go with these but if you want just a drop then these will be too aggressive for you. FYI, team falken's Chris Milano uses these coilovers on his falken 240sx. So I would assume his team knows more about suspension more than the average Joe on this site. If anyone has questions on these coilovers, you can check them on the megan site or pm me.

Showa makes our stock shocks, and we all know what **** they are. Showa also makes some of the finest racing shocks you can buy. So just because one place makes all them doesn't mean the same guts also go into them. Apexi's $2000+ tag gets you more than just the Apexi name... and most of it is in the shock guts.
Honestly, I'd stick to the places who make suspension parts and not much more than that. Places that have been making a living doing it on the track usually tells you something. Some just on the scene coilover with lots of attractive features just doesn't yank my chain.
You want to find out just how good they are? Call Koni, ask to talk to Lee. He 's one of their R&D guys and will shock dyno anything out there for free. All you gotta do is ship them to him.

Our stock shocks aren't so bad for daily driving, they're just not designed for lowering springs or auto-x. My bone stock suspension's 3 years old and still holding up fine, which is amazing considering the road conditions here and how I sometimes drive. Will be dropping soon for vastly improved looks and more sportish handling, but not in a big hurry to roughen up my grochery getter. I guess with suspensions, as in life, you just gotta decide what you want.

from what i read, they are copy of a generic coilover design, and different companies just paint them different color and put different badges on them.

So then these should b good, i dont think by changin the color and puttin a different name on it makes it any worse than the original make, does it?

I just bought a set of Megan coilovers for under $800. I don’t think they where ever designed to be beat on by racing extensively. They do seem to be very high quality though. I am going to be putting them in this weekend. I will be sure to let everyone know how they feel.

make sure u grease the rubber mounts that seat the spings. also dont have the spring load too much or else u will get poping noises cuz of the spring turning........other than that you got urself a good deal on these. I luv mines!!!

I never greased the spring isolator rings, and I don't have any popping noises. In fact, I have no noises at all coming from these coils. But I did grease the pillow ball mounts as a precaution.

I agree about the preload, I only preloaded mine to about 3/4". It was getting too tight to tighten it much more than that anyway, even with the coils off the car.

Ok guys I have two choices right now & I was wondering if u can help me choose one. My car is daily driver, alot of street alot of HWY driving & I'm planing to take it to track couple of times a yr. Right now I have two choices so far on Coilovers:

Tein ss = $1400.00cdn
Megan Racing = $1200.00cdn

Which one would work best for me?? Any other good ones? Should I just go with springs & Koni yellows instead of coilovers?

thanks

I had to face the same decision a week ago, i went with tein ss because they have been in the market for much longer than megan has. I also considered warranty issues. With the short product life span that some of the newer coilovers are attached to, contacting the manufacturer for replacement parts would be rather difficult. The way I thought about it was look at the number of places that carry tein, as opposed to megan. Also, if Im spending over 1500 cdn. for something, i want it to be worth it, i wasn't willing to take a gamble with that kinda cash. Resale value was something i thought about too, in the event that i needed to get rid of teins, i could probably flip them for a bit more than i could with megans.

p.s. if u got quoted 1400 cdn. for teins, thats a great price, i got mine for 1800 taxes in
