So he made me kinda confused, otherwise I had already made my decision as to get Teins, thanks. ashtonp, where did u get the Coilovers from? How much? How u like them so far?
Edward (Truehonda) had a thread explaining the problems with the Megan Coilovers. I'll try to find it for you.
Anyway, I'd take Tein coilovers over Megan coilovers any day. My basics haven't let me down for the two years that I've had them, although I still wish I bought the SS. I think I've seen one of the suspension experts (zzyzx, boilermaker, robbclark) talk about Megan coilovers before. I believe that they will also agree with what Truehonda will tell you about the coilovers.

U'd be surprised how many parts out there are made in Taiwan/China/ and Korea...
reason megan made it big is because their parts are cheap, and the appearance looks nice...but durability wise, it's not as good as the bigger names...to me megan = ractive

Have you even experienced with megan products or had bad reviews on these dampers??
actually, yes i have experience with megan products, yes i also work for an aftermarket company that deals with a lot of many different products...so when i say it's ****, i pretty much mean it's **** (please note i didn't say megan is ****...yet)...but hey, if the customer wants it, i'm not gonna stop them

The bandwagon effect is killing me.
Really simple: NO R&D = No Performance or Reliability
Is it that hard to understand that things made by large quantity for profit ONLY have very little research in them.
But hey, if everyone on Honda-tech says they are awsome, they should be right?!

Its just like those people who got OBX LSD's first. And said they were awsome. Because OBX copied Quaife, it seemed ok. But with no R&D, and crappier metal and cutting costs at many places - they seized up tranies.
But people everywhere at first said they rocked.

The biggest problem that I forsee from a performance aspect is that 1st off, the single most important thing you are buying is the damper... hands down. and heres the problems with that. you are buying in to an unknown, the most info we have on the damper is that its "32 way adjustible" which doesnt really tell you squat about the damper except that its suppose to be adjustible. we dont know what gets adjusted (bump or rebound or both) we dont know the range of valving adjustment, Hell we dont even know if there is a smooth dampering curve..... be basically know nothing about the damper at all. and from a high performance handling aspect thats a very bad thing. This is the biggest reason why I say that if you plan on useing the car for compition 99% of the "coilovers" on the market today should be avoided.
that being said, Most of these cheeper "coilovers" should be perfectly fine for street use. I havent a clue how long any of them will last, but they should performe well in the mean time. for track/compitition use... your probably better off with something else.

That Vendors comments just tell me that he has no clue about suspension tuning..... Stiffer Does not mean better handling, in some cases can actually cause worse handling.
Well maybe he just found me too dumb to believe... So u r saying Coilovers aren't good for competition driving... well as far as I know u have coilovers on ur own car if I'm not wrong. I use the car 50% street 50% competition, I take turns fast in the street & on HWY ramps & I'm planing on taking my car to track... so wut could be the best suspension setup for my needs that'll give me awesome handling I don't care at all about comfort & i dont wanna sacrifice handling for comfort, I also want something durable something that'll last long & not TOO expensive. I'm lookin at spending less than $1300.00 US on suspension.

1) they don't know how to drive
2) they follow the "crowd"
3) anything stiffer than stock is considered good
4) price
and you are correct, just because it's made in taiwan, it doesn't mean it's cheap....here are a list of companies (just a few) that has their products made in taiwan:
1) Jun (i didn't believe this one myself)
2) Autoexe (some)
3) Apexi (some)
4) J's Racing
5) Megan Racing
6) HKS (some products)
7) Top Secret (designed in Japan, assembled in Taiwan/China)
8) Tanabe (some)
9) Cusco (some)
10) Snap-on (the tools we all trust that we use to work on our cars)
11) Ractive
12) APC
13) Majority of ebay generic **** (either taiwan or china)
majority of these companies are very respectible in the car industry...but what sets them aside is they do their R&D, find the materials, ship over the designs/materials to taiwan and china and gets them to assemble it because of cheap labour...for companies like Megan, all they do is call up these sweat shops, ask them to send them some blueprints of coilovers and other products from other companies and all they have to do is choose whichever looks the best and tells the sweatshop to copy their design but with cheaper materials to keep the cost down. After assembly, they slap their logo on it, put it in a nice/nicer box, and start selling them. The design is good, but it's the material that makes it weak and cheap

Now this is one thing that REALLY pisses me off, and it's not only on here, it's on EVERY SINGLE FORUM that i've seen...everyone ALWAYS asks "What is the best suspension for my car?" or in your case "for my needs"...well here's my answer to EVERYONE that i've ever even bothered to reply to....THERE ISN'T ONE! Suspensions don't make your car turn...YOU make your car turn...if you wanna improve track time, money isn't going to solve that...even if you buy the TEIN N1 suspension and their racing springs...it won't do **** for you if you don't know how to improve your own driving skills. Yes you can spend thousands of dollars buying the top of the line **** for your car, but if you don't know how to use it, there's no point. Your just wasting money....and here's another answer for your question..."Awesome handling...but don't wanna sacrifice comfort"...sorry to tell you, but if you want handling, you HAVE to sacrifice comfort...keep in mind...track racing and street racing is completely different. You may think your car handles the best and no one can keep up with you on the street because you can turn fast and take corners fast...try it on the track while doing well over 100mph and taking a corner...i can almost guarantee you'll fly off the track...and if you think you can heal-n-toe and rev match etc etc etc....think again...on the street it's easy since ur going slow, but when ur in the 100mph's...and you actually have to THINK how to heal-n-toe and it doesnt' come naturally, ur already off the track...
sorry, this isn't only for you, it's for everyone in general...so don't think i'm picking on you...this is very valuable information to everyone...

haha i just skimmed through it...
1300 usd...so 1500 cdn roughly...not much to honestly tell u the truth....u can probably get some koni yellows? if i were u, i'd get mugen suspension...u can get them for roughly a little over 1000 usd...there's hundreds of hours of R&D in those suspension...and i'd also look into getting sway bar upgrades (front and rear)...u'd also need to get all the top and bottom bars to reduce chassis flex...
i'm assuming ur car is mainly street driven...the mugen would be pretty good for street and track...i won't say they're the best, since there ARE better suspension setups out there..but for the tight budget, i'd say go with mugen...at least u know ur getting high quality products from them...

^your talking about 2 professional drivers...i'm talking about unprofessional vs professional...
for unprofessional (meaning no racing experience), no matter how much u spend on your car, it won't make you go any faster...
for professional, since their skills and performance is already at the climax, a faster/better handling vehicle will definitely contribute to their skills.

^very true...i'm not saying it doesn't...but a lot of people over exaggerate that experience...they think that anything stiffer (a lot or even a little) is the best suspension in the world...hense a lot of people think megan is a really really good suspension...but it's not, cause i bet u 90% of them haven't even sat in a car with real race suspension before...i guess what i'm trying to say is they don't have the experience to backup their claims...
having coilovers and being able to turn fast is one thing...having coilovers and actually being able to use 100% of it's potential is another...a lot of people waste money on products which they only use 30% of...get what i mean?
