My passengers side strut gave out (REAR)
i have the koni struts and comming from the new england dragway on rt95 south there was construction on the road...bad bump with no signs that said BUMP plus it was dark as hell.... the car fell from the new pevement to the scraped pavement soooo ****ing hard i thought my car broke i half.. evryone spleeping in the car woke up like if i crashed andd ****... but here i knew this was gon happen sooner or later i saw this comming last year when my interior was getting done.. we redid the suspencion and i noticed the small ring on the koni strut was damaged... i hit it with a hammer and straightened out...it was all good untill i put in the box for music in the back.. that **** weighs a ton....but we will c what happens tomorrow ill try to fix it if not turn the coilover all the way up.....thankfully nothing else is broken.....YET

So it still failed with the newer lower perch? Whne I first installed my Koni's in the rear, I put some clamps on the shock in case the c-clip failed. It looks like ***, but I dont care. As long as I'm able to limp it home I'll be happy.

haha, another Koni sucks thread 'cause they didn't put in the adapter for their gc. 
koni has life-time warranty, try to ask them to see if they can give u a replacement shock 'cause you got an early verison and didn't know about the adapter.

Yes, GC has 2 kits, one for Konis that has a spacer with a recess in it for the snap ring. (and thats my hand in the picture) When the the sleeve lands on the snap ring, it compresses it like a compression ring in your engine and basically prevents if from popping out of that groove. If you've got early konis, they made the groove deeper, if you've got GCs for non-Konis, call and get Koni rear sleeves. Either way, use the respective warranties and it should be taken care of. Its rare for the snap ring itself to fail (break), but it does sometimes happen.
