ALPINE: Why the change for '05?????
I searched but couldn't find the answer needed.
The 9833 has 3 preouts at 4V, the 9853 has 3 preouts at 2V. Isn't this a down grade?
Also many feel that the touch strip is just a marketing ploy, which it very well is, however surely there is something good about it. Any input on the 9853?

The touch strip is a marketing ploy, but not just a marketing ploy - if you have ever used an Ipod you'll know how usefull it is.

So the volt difference shouldn't be a huge issue, I mean I currently have a 7874
so there should be some improvement from that to a 53?

Around $100, I purchased the 53 last night. I did a large amount of research prior to making my decision, I was just still a little foggy on the preouts. I also have an Audiocontrol Three.1 EQ, and a Directed 6 channel active crossover, so that should also help.

I don't really see how that's possible, but I'm not an audio guru so I might be wrong. Either way, its still an Alpine, so you shouldn't be dissapointed

Yeah, I'm sure it will be better than what I have now, but I figured I would get some kind of answer like that when you call directly to the Mfg. I agree it doesn't make sense, but thats why I'm the one spending 300 for it and they're the ones getting the money.
