Exclamation 2000 Accord EX 4cyl probelms?

not a civic, but im sure that someone has had this problem.

My mothers accord was fine until this morning.
She has always maintained her car, just had the 60k tune up.
After that she noticed a rough idle and lower gas milage after
week. This morning car starts; runs, however when slowing
down it starts to act like its going to die. I did change her
distributor (sp?) cap and rotor. (honda wanted to charge 100 for it)
worked fine for weeks. At first i thought the rough idle may have
been bad gas... but now i am thinking a o2 sensor???

any imput would be greatful..

Thankx

You might see how much the dealer would charge for just a diagnostic; they could at least get the code that'll indicate what's going on.

Yeah I had a '99 Accord that would do that from time to time when it was cold but never once it was warmed up. Definitely get that checked.. I hate the idea of my mom being stranded somewhere...

i did some research in the accord forums... sounds like the O2...
I offered her to use my car and i would take hers... (and yes that is a BIG step for me... since i dont like anyone driving the car but me...she smokes)
But she dropped it off at the dealer... still waiting for a verdict... she just didnt want to use her ext warranty... she was almost finished with it and she would get her money back if she didnt use it... all well... thats monday for you. Thankx for the imput

you could have always brought it to adcance auto parts/pepboys/autozone and asked them to see if any codes were coming up. They can also reset them if there were any.

I never knew 2000 honda accords had a distributor, but anyway, when you changed it, did you change the plug wires and spark plugs at the same time? Alot of times peoples cars run worse after changing a distributor cap and rotor cause they neglect the plug wires.

Also check your air filter. Start with the easiest.

You can check your wires with a multimeter. You just hook the leads to the ends of the plug wires, and move the plug wires back and forth and watch the multimeter. Have it set on resistance. If your reading fluctuates, then you need new wires.

Also a faulty o2 sensor usually doesnt make the car run bad. It will usually turn the check engine light on though. I highly doubt it is the o2 sensor.

I would start at the plug wires if I were you.
