Manual trans service

I just got my manual transmission service done on 03 civic ex. but got a question here. dealer showed me two different service for this, one where they connect the machine and flush out everything from the transmission and it takes about 5-6 qts of oil and costs $119.00, other where you just drain and fill the oil for $44.00 which takes about 2 qts of oil. I got the drain and fill change done for $44.00, i definately feel the difference, it feels like butter when you change the gear. just to confirm from any of you, is there a service like that where you connect the machine ? i thought that its only for the automatic trans only. please let me know, just curious.

Power flush is never good for any engine parts. You'd need lubrication to move at startup. It is recommended go for drain-and-refill method for all applications.

He's talking about a transmission, not an engine flush. But yeah, I didnt know they could power flush a manual tranny. Automatics yes, since you can flush it by using the tranny cooler lines.

^^^ he's correct. plus, when you do a power flush, some of the contaminents could wash back into your internal transmission parts which isnt good. just do regular intervals of drain and refill if you have an automatic car. oh, manual cars, to my knowledge doesnt require a power flush. my dealer told me that theres an option to do a power flush on an automatic car because it has a torque converter, so extra fluid gets stuck there. manual cars dont have a torque converter so when you drain the fluid, all of the fluid actually comes out.

It's just a time saver for shops, and as said above it can cause problems.
