High Pitched Belt sound .. am I overreacting??
hey everybody,
i just purchased an 05 em2 in magnesium metallic, 5spd last week. i'm not sure if I'm just over reacting or if it's just the engine (as I'm use to driving an older civic), but when I accelerate, as soon as the clutch catches and I have my foot on the gas pedal (between shifts) i hear a faint high pitched belt sound .. my best way of describing the noise. I've been shifting around 3000-3500 rpm and mostly around the owner's manual shift points, so I'm not racing the engine.
I was just wondering if its the noise the engine makes and i'm just over reacting or if it's something I should have looked at. thanks in advance!

i haven't even gotten past 4,000 rpms yet and dont really plan to during the first 1000 miles (i'm around 500 right now). It's so faint though that I can completely see the techs at the dealer saying "we dont hear anything." I don't mind it if it's just the way its suppose to sound .. but i guess if it progressivly gets worse I'll take it back.

it is something you should have looked at. if it is brand new, take it back because if you wait to long, the dealer might say something and make you pay for it.

i dont know i drove the car a lot last night and today and i honestly think it's just me over reacting. it's so faint i think it's just a normal noise. my one good friend drove in it with me (he's a mechanic for mitsubishi) and i mentioned the noise and he said he couldn't even hear anything, so i'm almost positive it's just me, heh.
