Get your electrical system checked out asap. Maybe the battery connections are dirty or loose, but it's prolly the alternator. That means the battery is getting bad as well.

you may have a dead short somewhere, i have a 5speed though but the same kind of thing happened to me battery light kept flashin every now and then. mine ended up being a little tiny slice in my power cable that goes to the starter and it kept grounding out causein a short in the elctrical system causeing the light to flash on and off. luckyly it didnt cause any damage to the alternator or battery but something like this could guess i got lucky, so i suggest you get it checked

My girlfriends car does the same thing, 8888888 an the trip goes, and she gains gas etc.....when it malfunctions. I'm thinkin it's getting time to climb under and check the battery cables, something is grounding/shorting that retarded electronics system.

I'll most likley talk her into a new battery, and clean the hell out of the terminals, and best off check all the main wires. It didn't do this until.........like 2-3 months ago and the car was fine for 7 months with 1 drive to san fransisco and back (we live 6hrs away), so it's weird, VERY weird

It has nothing to do with the battery. You need to load test the battery first to see if the battery is good or not. Dont replace a battery if the old one is still good.

It has to do with something in the actual gauge.
