It's been a couple days since I drove my car and I just went out there to check on it and my battery is dead... what the hell... what could be causing a drain? I have no amp right now so that's not hte problem... any suggestions?

its one of many things

1 - alarm
2 - stereo
3 - something from the actual car went wrong
4 - the battery wasnt enough to handle your setup

1... maybe my alarm but how much should it drain when my car is off? I have no LED or anything either..

2... I've thought about it, but what would it be? My deck is on switched power and I have no amp, in fact I've got my breaker turned off right now, so there is no power going to my trunk at all

3... maybe... god I hope not

4.... I upgraded my battery a while ago becuase this happened before and it was fine until now

this sucks, certainly doesn't help my ridiculous stress level

What kinda battery is it?

Had you disconected it lately? If so, did you reset your ECU properly?

You have to reset the ECU when you unplug the battery?

If you've messed with any wires under the hood then check the batt to chassi wire and pos and neg terminals to make sure you ahve a good connection. That messed me up and the wire from the batt was loose where it connects to the body.

If it was you alt. i think you would have notice your car running rough before you shut it off. I killed my alt 3 time in my camaro and i could tell every time.

Have you tried to jump it yet?

haven't jumped it

I don't think it is my alt. the car runs fine, the battery just seems to drain when the car is off

I've d/c my battery a few times before and I've never reset the ECU

I DO have a DVD player that I have on constant (but manually switchable power) that I leave on sometimes, but if its turned off I dont know why it would kill my battery

The battery is an Exide 34XCD

When my battery kept being drained, I just unplugged the power/ground wires and left them there until the Yellow Top came in. It won' get drained since there's no load.

My Honda dealer told me my alarm and system could be slowly draining the battery. They said to avoid this, start the car at least once a day and let it run for at least 5 minutes. I tried that and it didn't work so I just bought a new battery. Maybe it'll work for you, good luck!

No, but if you unhooked your AMP and left the power wire laying around that could drain your battery VERY QUICKLY and probably with some sparks too

Maybe because you've been talking so much **** lately about upgrading your alternator, your current alternator gave you a nice big F-U!

Don't know about the warranty. I know that if you leave an alarm set for an extended period of time it will drain the battery. I seriously doubt that's the problem with the short time period. Just check all your interior and exterior lights, other electrical switched devices first to make sure nothing was left on before getting your worry on...

dont alarms run on like half a volt or something? i know they take very minimal power to run...... i would assume it would take a hell of a long time for an alarm to discharge a battery? correct me if i'm wrong please cuz i'm under this assumption right now and i dont know too much about alarms haha

as far as i know, the ECU will reset itself anytime you disconnect your battery....

btw, if your battery always gets drained overnight, i would think there's something wrong.

i once left the dome lights on all day and night (and my car has the dual dome lights) but the car still started up perfectly fine.

I travel quite a bit for work at times. There was quite a few times that I'd leave the car for a month+ and never had any issues when I got back. It started a little harder than normal but it still started. This was even in the Jan. & Feb. timeframe in NY where it gets damn cold in the winter.

I have 3 neons, HU, Kicker 150.2 amp, and a Kicker 400.1 amp.

12.4 means your battery is bad. turn your car on, leave your system off, and all accessories off for like a good half hour, then after a fewminutes get a reading. should be 12.61 to 12.66 for the battery to be proper. a car lead acid battery has 6 "cells" (the combination of the lead plates submerged in the acid etc etc etc) all wired in series. each one reads between 2.1 and 2.11 volts... when one or more of the cells start reading lower than that, you know the battery is toast.

i'd think an exide has a warranty

now, your thing to do here is get an ammeter and start checking wires coming off the battery for current when the car is off.
