Dude, thats up to you... How much knowledge do you have? Generally if you could install a HU yourself then I would say that you might be able to do an alarm also. Search around i think there is a wiring diagram on this site somehwere.

It's fairly easy. Although if you aren't electronically inclined, leave it for the professionals.. I've seen way too many people try to do it themselves, then take it to the shop and have us fix it for them because they didn't know what the hell they were doing... amateurs lol
If this is your first one, expect it to take all day. Otherwise, you can get it done as quickly as 3 hours if you're REALLY good. No, it does no come with directions. Using the wiring diagram on the site would be very helpful. You will also need a digital multi-meter, and a few 30 amp SPDT relays. In an alarm install, it's not about the speed, it's about the quality.
In a head unit install, generally, you can just twist and tape although I don't really recommend that either.. but in an alarm, it is MANDATORY that you test the wire, twist the wire, solder the wire, tape the wire.. When I do my alarm installs, I even use heat shrink.. take some more time now so you don't have problems later..
That's my 2 cents.

IMO I would feel safer installing my own alarm. Find someone to help you that you trust. A car stereo shop, that has been around for 30 or more years in my area, Had 2 kids install an alarm. A few weeks or so ago they stole the car and stripped it. It was too late for the owner. My parents had the same place install a stereo about 5 yrs ago and one month later, it was stolen. Maby I just don't trust anyone but you need to look out for yourself and your ride. good luck.

Future shop had the same thing going on at a location in my area

People who installed audio systems and alarms on peoples cars would jack the cars within a few weeks and that was regardless of if they installed the alarm or not. Reason being, they knew which alarm the car had and knew the flaws of many alarms on the market.

Cant trust places and people these days

Alarms are a good "safe guard".. I have one so I don't know how hypocritical of this it is of me to say, but it won't stop a potential theif.. Given the right amount of time in a proper neighborhood, I could go disarm an alarm and hot wire just about any car.. although I never would because grand theft auto just isn't my thing.. well, except the game lol Just remember that if you do have it professionally installed, make sure you trust the installer because they have probably done work on a million different types of cars... during my training for MECP, we were taught how to steal cars and think like a potential theif so we knew what to do and what not to do.. just food for thought I suppose
