03 coupe- koni shocks only option?

Hey guys I wanna lower my 03 coupe with eibach sportlines, and want to get the new shocks so I don't have to worry about blowing them. I'd get the tokico blues but drilling is involved in installing the front ones and I'd rather avoid them. Am I stuck with the koni yellows? They're a bit expensive for my budget.

i have the similar drop with my evotion springs (race drop 1.5" - 2.5" ... but i am using stock shocks right now and i was looking for shocks also ... koni makes either has the adjustable yellow shocks (which you might have to worry about the adjusting **** seizing up after a year or two if you don't regrease them), or just the sleeve inserts (which you won't have to worry about one bit). But if you decide to change to a sport drop (1" - 1.5") you will not have to worry about getting any type of shocks, because you can get by with your stock shocks.

I am not sure what your talking about, there is only one type of koni shock for our car. The fronts are inserts and the rears are just replacements.

I have eibach sportlines and koni yellows and I have had them for almost 8 months now and they are great. The only down side is the fronts are inserts to the original honda housing, but the rears you just swap out. And they are adjustable which makes them nice.

pretty much thats your only option. They have one type of KYB shock out now, but it is like a OEM replacement and really not made for lowered cars. Also you can go several yrs on sportlines and not blow your OEM shocks, it is all how you drive. If you drive slow over speed bumps and not take corners fast, you will be fine for a while.

You need to gut the front strut out to put the koni insert in. So drilling the mounting bracket holes isn't really that big of a deal. If you just need to drive on the street, get the tokicos, and find a machine shop or someone with a drill press who can bore the lower bracket holes out to 16mm.

Your bumpstop will not fit correctly as the tokico front strut rods are smaller than oe on a 2003. I just tightened my bumpstops with wire.

wow, why are there no options for the 03s and up? If the KYB AGXs end up only being for the 01-02, Im selling my car and getting something else, its freaking rediculous. I guess the Hayame v2s fit, but no one is having any luck with them, and going and buying new knuckles is yet another $300 on top of the cost of suspension. I guess its sort of not worth it to drop an 03+.....

There are alot of options. Any lowering spring will work, and with the shocks, any will work, yes each require some type of modification, but it isnt anything major. There are also full coilovers, teins, tein ss, B&G's, dropzone, omni. So you arent out of the loop.

Well there should only be 2 sizes, 50mm and 55mm. To be sure which ones you need, measure your front strut housings. I think the 03 civics have 55mm, but I could be wrong. I just went ahead and got mine without measuring and everything was fine.

Use a dial caliper and measure around the housing to get the correct size you need.

You'll need the 55mm ones. Tirerack has the size down wrong. I have an 03 also and I needed the 55mm. The 50mm are too small. I ordered without measuring and had to wait an extra 2 weeks to deal with returning and then getting the right ones. They mixed it up in 2002 with the 50mm and the 55mm. People with 02 pretty much have to measure for sure. For us 03, I believe its 55mm on all of them, but then again I'd check just to make sure.

IF you get Koni you will need the 55mm. I have a set that I will be selling once I get the front ones replaced. I have about 800 miles on the rear and that's it. I switched over to coilovers cuz I wanted to be lower than 1.3" around with the H&R Springs. I also wanted to raise it back up a bit for the winter too. If you're interested, PM me man. We'll talk.
