QUESTION: HIDs w/ Blacked Out Headlights

Alrite so I just blacked out my headlights and I was planning on getting some HIDs from SUPERHIDS.com. Has anyone purchased from there? Well the question I was concerned about is that if I were to get HIDS at about 5300K, would that affect my black housings at all. The paint I used wasn't high temp paint. Would it affect it by cracking it or any such? If anyone knows, please comment.

HID consumes less power than stock. It shouldnt effect your housing at all. Im also considering from superhids.com, they have great prices. Im still debating though. Let me know how it goes if you decide to get them.

well they affected my headlight housing when I had them. They left burn marks on the top of the housing. Maybe it was because they were aftermarket housings, but I dont know. Maybe it was just the heat that they give off.

HID consume less power but i think they give off around the same amont of heat. 'cause when i felt mine, they feel as hot as the 100w that i used to use. maybe you can just repaint your headlight with some coats of high temp paint that would be fine.

well it was the top of mine that got burnt, not the actuall housing that you paint. If you look inside at the top.

Well you better believe excited gas gets hot. It won't really affect the painted part, like streetglower said. Mine still doesn't have burn marks.

I noticed mine after a few weeks of having them. I think the problem was because I had aftermarket headlights, the cleared ones, but maybe there parts are of cheaper quality than the honda housings.

They DRAW less power, but still produce heat. I painted my housing NBP and cleared them. The HID's do not affect the paint but it does start to burn through the clear coat on the lenses themselves (sonar projectors) I'm on my second set.
