Not another TYC Projector HID question!!

Hi all. First off, let me just say that I HAVE read through many of the posts concerning HID, Projectors, TYC, etc...but still cannot locate a post answering/commenting on these items.

I am looking at purchasing the TYC Projector for my 03 EX. I am not a big fan of (taking apart) my OEM headlights to clear them, nor do I wish to purchase a "cleared" lens from E-Bay.. I used to own a couple of Integra's back in the day and loved the look of projector lights. Now, it is my understanding that the TYC projectors utilize a true driving projector as opposed to many other aftermarket headlights (halo, etc..) that use a fog light projector. This was explained to me by someone at Generra over the phone. Anyway, I unerstand that the TYC uses an H1 bulb. Wouldn't an HID conversion for H1 headlights look/fit right in the H1 projector that is on the TYC assemblys? I have heard many comment that you cannot use an HID conversion in the projector. This makes NO sense to me, as if the HID conversion is an H1 conversion, what's the deal?

I will post more in a bit....have to go to a meeting!! DOH!

THis is right from TYC/Genera

[hr]The reason for the HID kits, is that they ruin the photometrics of a lamp, when they get installed. As you already know, the bulbs are longer then the factory bulbs, and when they are installed, push the photometrics in a way that the lamp was not originally intended.[hr]

you can find HID kits that do not hurt the photometrics, they are designed in a way where the light output for the hid (a small cricular type tube) emits light at the same point an H1 filament sits in the bulb....

Intruder - That's exactly what I thought! See, if an HID kit was properly designed to replace an H1 Halogen, why wouldn't the HID kit's light emitting point be the same as that from a filament on the halogen? What a company manufacturs a quality HID conversion, it is designed as a bulb replacement. Any more comments??

I have an HID kit in my TYC projectors. The light output is amazing and I haven't had any problems so far. The bulbs do not fit directly unfortunetly. I had to cut the bulb housing a little to make room for the "rod" that is attached to the H1 HID bulb. I am very happy with this kit. The kit is Xenon H1 7000k HID with a light out put of 3500 lumens.

There is someone here on this forum that put Audi A6 HID projectors into TYC projectors lights. Dont know who he is or how he did it, but it looks real good. I am also intersted in getting a HID kit for my 02 Coupe. Looking at the Audi projectors inside the TYC lamps made me reconsider getting a straight H4 replecement. If i find the link to the guys site I will post it.

BECAUSE THE TYC PROJECTORS WERE NOT MADE FOR HID!!!!!!!

NO HID IS 3500 LUMENS

go to this website here...

and post your concerns about HID and projectors... and SLAMMED.. you go there too and post that you have 3500 lm bulbs and people will educate you about this.

Also.. it was "showoff" that did the audi conversion
