quick ? about relocating my battery

ok I have the relocation kit from summit racing for relocating my battery to the trunk. My question is for the positive cable, in the engine bay how should I connect the new positive cable with the ones that run to the fuse and altenator. I checked out this page http://www.personal.psu.edu/users/j/...51/battery.htm and I understand how that was done but can I bolt the cables down directly on that metal of the engine bay or do I need an extra spacer piece like shown in this pic

let me know thanks

are6 is on a distinguished road
I persoanlly don't have this done, but if those cables are positive terminals, DO NOT, I REPEAT DO NOT touch those to the frame if the negative battery terminal is connected. You will have a very interesting light show not to mention some damage. Yes, you will have to find some way to keep those connections from EVER touching anything that runs to the ground (basically, the entire chassis). You can use some sort of phenolic material or rubber spacer. I install large scale generators and high voltage electrical panels and we have what we call isolation terminals that do exactly what you want to do. The are basically a rubber/phenolic material the has threaded studs embedded in it coming out of each end that are not connected. They also serve as vibration dampners. Although I haven't checked myself, you should be able to find them in Lowe's or someplace similar. We order them outta Grainger all the time...not to mention they shouldn't be too expensive. A couple o' bucks maybe...

On a side note/trivia...did you know you can weld with only a 12V car battery? Yes..in a pinch, it can be done...just lettin ya know how much juice can flow from it...

I cut the terminal off, then used a butt splice and solder to connect the new wire to where the old one was.
