Cause For Concern
I just installed my new RF 601s and I have been having problems with my system ever since. I am running 2 amps, the 601s and a sony 400watt for my components. After I installed my 601s, I'll be bumping for say 10 to 15 min. and then all of a sudden both of my amps turn off and all I hear is my rear decks weak speakers. And its weird because the firsts time it happened I turned off the power in the car, left it off for a minute and then turn it back on and the system started again. This has been happening everyday since I installed the amp last tuesday. I'll be drivimg home from work, 5 min before I get home the amps shut off, and then when I get back home I turn off the car and restart it and it comes back on.
Anyways, I am running the recommended 8 gauge wire and the RF fuse that came with the amp.
BUT WHAT I WANNA KNOW IS WHY DO BOTH AMPS TURN OFF? If the problems started after I installed the RF amp, why isn't only that amp turning off.
Is this happening because they are not getting enough power? Would a capicitor help?
This is really starting to **** me off
Please!!

Sounds like a loose wiring connection somewhere.
Check the back of the radio, the remote turn-on wire, amp power wire, and amp grounds. Grounds need to be as short as possible and touching bare metal.

weak ground? See what I dont understand is that I did'nt rewire anything, I just took the existing wires from my old amp and attached them to my new amp. I'm about to install my new subs right now, so I'll go ahead and redo the wiring to see if that helps.
REGULARJOE: What if my deck does have a weak remote output, would it mean I need a new deck.
Currently I own a Kenwood KDC 5019. Its not that old, maybe a 2 yrs, but how would I know If I had a weak remote output.
Thanks

A remote wire is used to turn things on. If its trying to turn too many things on then it may not have enough power to turn everything on. Usually people us a relay to prevent problems. I wouldn't think two amps are an issue but u never know.

moving stuff around/changing amps can do it. when it does it again park the car and jiggle the wires around. or bring a small speaker wire with you and connect the +12 to the remote input on the amp. then you will know for sure. otherwise we continue to offer tidbits that do very little...

well when I installed my new subs today I noticed that my amp was on my trunk floor instead of on the back of my seat. I rolled around with my seats folded down today and I had no trouble with that amps turning off, could that would have been the cause?

Just for reference, if you want to use a relay to bump up the stock turn on output, you would put the existing turn on wire into the 85 terminal, 86 and 87 would both get 12+, and 30 would be your new amp output, beefed up and all. Even if you don' t have this problem anymore, i would recomend doing this anyways, it's easy, and cheap, and all the wires are already at your amp, the 12+ and the turn on.
Hope this helps

did you say you have an 8 guage wire running both amplifiers? thats way too small for that much power! should definitely upgrade that to four gauge, I bet that will help.
my money is that its a heat or current issue caused by wiring thats too small.
