ok i'm a lil slow.. but what are camber kits and what do they do??? i hear about people buying them when they drop their car lower... i know i droped my other car (grand am) 2 inches.. and never heard about buying a caber kit.

well not sure about your grand am because it's an AMERICAN made car but camber kits are made to correct the "WHEEL TILT".

When you lower your car (7thgen i assume) the rear tires will tilt inward like this ---> / \ therefore you must buy a camber kit to correct the wheel tilt like this----> | |. If you don't get one most likely it will cause uneven tread wear in your tires! get it.

actually you really don't need a camber kit in the front IMO unless your just gona slam the whole front and tuck! but a camber kit in front isn't really neccessary.

so if i get coilovers then i don't need that expensive camber kit that people talk about.. just get it front end aligned if i decide if i wanna ajust it..

you'll need a camber kit in the back but for the front i wouldn't worry about it....when i lowered my VIC on goldlines about 1.75" i didn't have it aligned and it was just fine but if you wanna spend money on the alignment go ahead it won't hurt anything! and camber kits aren't that exspensive....well the SPC rear is only like i believe 139 or something but well worth it!

my recomendation would be to take the car to have the alignment checked and let them tell you what it needs and dont need. I can bet $$$$$ that if you drop the car as much as it sounds like you will that the alignment will be out of spec if not on the very edge of spec. Anyone who suggest to NOT have the alignment checked Just some background on myself ive been in the automotive field for over 15 years, 9 of which was doing mainly wheel alignments, suspension, and brake work. Some shops will even give free alignment checks! I did Eibachs on my civic and it took the Camber on one wheel to the max negative camber and the other side to just beyond max negative camber on the front and about the same on the rear ( damn stereo equipment ). Typically thou your Toe setting is what will be more critical of a setting and can cause much more rapid tire wear. But if you spend the kind of $$$$$ i did on tires camber kit is well worth it.
