georgia muffler laws?
georgia muffler laws?
I have been searching for an hour trying to find out what the max db level is in GA. I cant find it. I have gone through ever damn website i can think of and still nothing. Does anyone know what the max db level is for GA? The cops here are out to get every 20 something person driving a car not made in the U.S.!!!
Its funny on my carry permit it has all the info you need right on the back of it, nothing on the back of my drivers license. So they screen that hell out of you if your gonna carry a gun and then list everything you need to know on the back, like your an idiot, but that put no such instructions on the back of a drivers license which any moron can get. I really dont see how that human race has lasted this long.
Thats if you know that answer, if not thats the same for reading the post instead of skippng it.
Just remember boys, it a scary world out there. Make sure your get away car is fast enough.

From my experience with the georgia state patrol, if your worried that something on your car is illegal then more than likely it is. The problem with sound violations is that they are very hard to detect or measure. Usually it's either a db level or just being able to hear you from a certain distance. All the cops around here use basically the same method to catch loud exhaust as with noise violations. If they can hear your car from i think it's 150ft then they will ticket you. But thats another problem with georgia, not all cops are the same. From what you are saying, if they are out to get people then you might as well either get a silencer or get your exhaust replaced.
In California, the legal dB limit is 95. To be honest, it doesn't really matter because police officers don't carry any instrument to test dB levels of cars. If your exhaust is clearly emitting an offensive, harsh, or excessive noise then you can be cited here in CA.
^but inside, "they" are laughing to themselves.
i agree with "huh?", your exhaust could be emission legal, but that doesnt refer to noise. even if you showed the officer a certificate of from the manufacter of your exhaust stating its only 89dB or w.e, that officer can still cite you as its "under officers judgement". hell, if an officer thinks a stock exhaust system is loud, he or she can cite that vehicle for it.
nowadays, its about how your muffler "looks" than sounds IMO. if you got a low profile muffler (ES OVAL for example) and an officer hears a loud noise comming down the block from a vehicle, hes gonna be looking for a car with a huge canister popping out its rear by the time you spot the officer and keep the revs down.
