Consumer law question.

Is there a law or a right that you can purchase the item for what's it priced at? For example, you see a TV priced at $200 and when you take it to the cashier they say it's a mistake that it's suppose to be $2,000. By law, you can purchase it at $200 am I coorect? If so, what law is it and where can I find it online? Thanks in advance.

most place have disclaimers saying prices subject to change and stuff. They can get around an error usually.

Cali is an unknown quantity at this point
They have to be intentionally trying to deceive you. If it's a simple error they made, they can refuse to sell it to you for the erroneous price. It's happened to me when I worked in retail. I worked in consumer electronics at sears, and I remember we had a stereo on display worth $600. Well, some kids must have switched a sign or something and I didn't notice. Then, a little while later, a teenager came in and noticed there was a sign for 59.99 for that stereo and he was like, "Hey, you have to sell this stereo to me for $59.99. If you don't, it's false advertising." I just stared that little **** down for about 5 seconds, and then told him to **** off before I call security and have him escorted out of the store. As soon as I said that, the kid turned around, and walked away. It was funny because he was there with his gf, and he just grabbed her hand, and walked out of the store. lol.

It's only false advertising if it's in an advertisement. In-store price signs are not advertisements in the same sense. It's always up to the discretion of the store manager or corporate policy whether they'll give you the price on the sign if it's lower than the actual price.

You need to have proof of said ad. If you don't have proof, then it's not going to do you a bit of good to contact anyone concerning the matter. Usually price specials or misprints are only held true if it is a written ad such as a newspaper ad or flyer. My recommendation to you would be to have a camcorder, VCR, DVD-Recorder, or whatever else you need to record the TV ad ready at all times, and once the commercial comes out hit record as fast as you can. This way you have hard proof that there is some sort of price error and you stand a better chance of getting the offered price.
