noise disturbance
well, got a sleazy ticket for loud music. officer said its the "base" thats the problem.
but on the ticket citation, it doesnt say any devices were used to measure my music loudness. he was probably 3 houses away from me when i was listening to my music at like 80% volume with 500rms watts to the sub. he immediately just turned to me and signaled me to pull over and cites me for noise disturbance violation: 4-10.5B A0-0 (can someone find that for me for specific information about that one?).
he said he wrote it so its not a traffic or moving violation, but it really isnt in the first place. so i wanted to know if theres a point of attending court to get fines lowered? if the officer doesnt show up at court, is it dismissed? and lastly, any idea estimate what this can cost me?
im thinking about going to court and argue with it because 1) the judgement of his hearing is different than any other human being, 2) my music wasnt THAT loud... he had the nerve to put "loud base from san jose" under remarks. san jose is about 45min from my location btw. 3) he was a motorcycle turtle head helment officer, is it true those officers are more likely to attend court than the car unit ones?
thanks
any input or advice is greatly appriceated

officers can either use a decible meter or if they can hear it more then 50 feet away they can issue a citation, as far as going to court, you would just be waisting your time cause if you have no credible witnesses(no friends, just a bystanderd etc.) then its your word against the officers and 9 times out of 10 you will loose it if you contest the case.

There is the always important time factor. What time did you recieve this ticket. If it's after 10:00 pm I believe anything louder than normal will constitute disturbance. But I wouldn't even worry about court. I tend to think you'd spend more in court costs than just paying the fee.

how much are court costs?
i dont want to contest against it, im just seeking advice/tips on how to get the fine lowered. i got estimated $350 which is rediculous* when i stopped by the courthouse.
(does this court fee apply to traffic violation cases as well?)

btw, I dont know what you are all talking about court fee's and whatnot. In AZ, there is nothing you have to pay for going to court. thats BS. Unless you have to hire a lawyer, which you wouldnt in this case, you do not have to pay court fees/fines, whatever. Only the ticket fine.
I have been to court 9 or 10 times for car stuff, and every time, they dropped what my violation was. Usually illegal lights, so I would pull up to the courthouse, pop out the lights, go to court, say "Look, I took em out", and they would drop it. haha. Than I would walk back to my car and install them again, lol.. I would get pulled over again for the same thing though a few weeks later, haha. same thing would happen. I dont have anything illegal on my car now, that I know of...

when i was pulled over, i didnt hide the faceplate, but next time i will.
but do you think its too late to mention that when i appear in court for it? im trying to bring fines low as possible, i really dont want to cough up $300 big ones for this citation. i'd feel like a complete guilty BSer if i say i had no face plate/stereo deck to the judge when i really did. i can only imagine what the officers face when he first hears my say "your honor, on the date and time of this citation, i did not have a stereo in my car..."
