penatly for a foreign licence plate in front?

Hey guys it's kidna what I've wanted to do for a while but justr ecently I got a licence plate from Poland, and since I wanna represnt I want to place it up front. The problem is I live in NY where both plates are required. Now if I drove around with only the foreign plate on in the front (the NY on in back), what do you think the penalty will be if I get stopped by cops? The least I know is that they'll just tell me to switch it right there and then (i'll keep the other NY plate in the trunk), but what's the most harsh penalty?

If you live in a state that requires a front license plate, I would just go ahead and put the state issued plate on. At worst you could probably get a ticket and fine. I wouldn't try the excuse of 'but I do have a license plate on the front' either...Only asking for trouble. If you live in California, it would be downright stupid to not do it, as they have really tight restrictions on modifications and once they have you pulled over for one thing, nothing prevents them for looking for other illegal things on your car.

if NY state law requires you to have front and rear license plates then thats what you need to have, you will most likely get a ticket espically with a Poland license plate instead of a NY license plate.

A lot of people have Euro plates, but the law in Cali is that you have 30 days from receiving the vehicle to register the vehicle (Thats what happened when I was in the Military). My advice, don't put it on your car if your not driving in that State/Country. Put it in your apt or garage and rep it that way.

My new polish neighbors have one of the long plates on their Ford Taurus. As far as I could tell the car is USDM... they probably just kept the LP of their last car before coming to the USA. Although they have a kid, so he must have thought it wasd cool.

thanks for the input guys but the original question still ahsn't been answered. what are the possible legal consequences?

Also if I were to keep both of them, do you guys have any ideas as to where to attack the plate to on the front. You can see where it is now, and it feels a bit massive at least in my eye when they're one below the other.

If your state requires a front plate, you would likely get a "moving" violation which means in addition to a fine, your insurance would go up as well - not worth it...
IMHO
