2 speeding tickets

well its official that i have really bad luck. just got my second speeding ticket within two weeks. there goes my insurance. on top of that i've had fix it tickets for just about everything on my car. and this was all one day after the next, literally. well my second fix it ticket i want to fight for. but i wanted to know if anybody knows how far is the range in the speed gun they use? and also, just how much does your insurance go up if you have a ticket on your record? im currently paying 220 so what am i roughly looking at?

It really depends on your insurance company and in what state. Also, it depends on the nature of the ticket. The insurance company will charge you more if you were going say 85 in a 55 as opposed to a 40 in a 30. Fix it tickets are usually worth fighting over. Just know that if it you were given ANY ticket by a state trooper or sheriff, they are REQUIRED to attend court. Local town officers usually don't show up. Let's see... the range on guns... ehh... they go pretty damn far, let's just leave it at that.

I'm going to estimate that if you're paying $220 now, here's some figures:

If under 18
Old: $220
New: $300+

18-21
Old: $220
New: $280

21-35
Old: $220
New: $250 -ish

Over 35
Old: $220
New: $225 -ish

The last two ones are guesses, those depend TOTALLY on the insurance company, there really is no set amount.

Hope I could be of some help!

well im 21 so i hope that if it does go up much its only between $250-300. well i was doing 60 in a 40mph zone. i the one ticket i didnt get that would've killed would be the one where i was doing 108mph on the freeway, according to cop, but he let me go because he didnt want to screw me over that badsince i had already a ticket. but now this one i just got was from a speed trap and this guy was an a-hole.

the best thing to do in this case is to fork out the money and get an attorney to fix the tickets for you. There are attorneys that specialize in traffic law so just check your yellow pages. It might cost you a couple hundred bucks but its better than paying for those tickets and having your insurance sky-rocket or just being canceled all together. Good luck!

Speed Trap eh?

Yeah, those are deadly... on average, I could get over 2 grand in tickets for sitting in a speed trap for about 2 hours.

About your insurance, it shouldn't go up too much... it should stay under $300. You can always contact your insurance, tell them and ask. If it's too high, get some other insurance quotes. Progessive.com gives you their quote and 3 other quotes, and they are pretty accurate, might want to give them a try if you are looking to switch.

Lucky. I'm 19 and I pay ~$278 / month. I had a ticket for doing like 50 in a 35, and almost got another for doing 73 in a 55. But the cop was a douche-bag. On that second ticket, he wrote my court date out for that very same day, prior to having been pulled over. So being that I can't go back in time to make my court date, I threw it away, and apparantly, so did the state of Oregon. Only other ticket I had is a fixit tix for blue neon lighting. was a female cop, they are horrible lol.
