if your state is a two plate state, u must have both registration plates on your vehicle. some states only require a license plate on the rear of the vehicle, therefore you can put a vanity plate, european plate, or other novelty item on your front licence plate bracket. check with locals first, but you do see them around.....but thats only on the front of the car.

Here in California, all vehicles are issued 2 plates, for the front and rear. It's a violation of 5200 VC, front license plate required, fortunately, it's correctable, so you don't have to worry about it going on your MVR, or motor vehicle record.
