second ticket, need advice please!
second ticket, need advice please!
ok, so last july (2003), i got a ticket for 19 over the speed limit. went to traffic school and got it taken care of.
last night i got one more for 60 in a 45. i thought i would be able to go to traffic school again. after reading the fine print, if i went to traffic school within the last 12 months, i'm not eligible for the typical 4 hour session. i might be eligible for an 8 hour session costing $135.
another option is to plead guilty for $75 but then my insurance skyrockets.
either that or i can go to court and try my luck there. but considering this is the second infraction, my buddies say i might get my license suspended!!!! is this true?!?!
any advice? i just want to keep my license and keep my insurance where it's at. thank you very much!!!
ps: i live in illinois in case it helps

Sounds like a lose-lose situation.
Definately check into the 8 hour class but if that doesnt work you're kinda screwed.
Do you even have something to argue if you go to trial? If you dont then I wouldnt fight it.
Pay the fine and deal with the insurance hike...you were speeding. You could keep your license that way.
HEY, if your lic. is suspended then you wont have to pay insurance at all

You might have a shot at deferred adjudication. Depending on the judge, he MIGHT let you take defensive driving again within a year. My dad got to take it again after 10 months

Yes the new law in IL is two speeding tickets within a year of each other, suspension of license. You could get lucky though, they haven't been really keeping up with it, a few of my friends have 3 - 5 speeding tickets and none of them have gotten letters from the state asking for their license's YET.
Other than that, if you don't have a case in court, don't waste the court's time, they won't help you out.
