ROAD CLOSURES AND RESTRICTIONS DURING THE VISIT OF PRESIDENT BUSH -- NOVEMBER 29 AND 30
We have been informed that, due to security precautions surrounding President Bush's visit this week, road closures and restrictions will be in effect in the downtown area of Ottawa and around the Place du Portage complex in Gatineau (Hull sector).
You may experience some delays in getting to your workplace in the core areas of Ottawa and Gatineau, and may need to modify your usual route to take account of road closures.
OTTAWA
Residents and commuters can expect traffic disruptions, modified bus routes and longer travel times in the core due to road closures, and are asked to monitor local radio and television stations for current information. GATINEAU, PLACE DU PORTAGE AREA
LAURIER STREET
Effective Monday, November 29 from 5 p.m. until Tuesday, November 30 at 10 p.m., Laurier Street will be closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic between H> ๔tel de Ville and the Alexandra Bridge.
MAISONNEUVE BOULEVARD
Effective Monday, November 29 from 5 p.m. until Tuesday, November 30 at 10 p.m., Maisonneuve will be closed between Victoria and St-Laurent.
ALEXANDRA BRIDGE
On Tuesday, November 30, from approximately 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., the Alexandra Bridge will be closed to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic.
ON-STREET PARKING
On-street parking will be prohibited on the side-streets running off Laurier from 5 p.m. on November 29 until 10 p.m. November 30.

the president visits about 1/2 mile from my work like every month, sometimes more. They close off most every road within 2 miles, but all the main ones are open, and you can still access every other one. They just have an officer at every single street, neighborhoods, corners, everywhere. It gets crazy. Probably about 500 cops that you can see within about a mile period. They block off a lot for the mexican president as well, but not as much.

well they've done it for former US president's and the leaders of other nations but the security surrounding this visit is craziness.
