Need Salvage Parts
Need Salvage Parts
So, my girlfriend was in an accident in her '95 Civic Si and now I think her tranny, axle and some cosmetic stuff is messed up. So, I need to know two things, one, I'm under the impression that mechanicals between 92-00 for the Civic were more or less the same insofar as engine/tranny/suspension is concerned? And two, does anyone know any local scrap yards where one might find a dead Civic or two? Thanks for the help.
yes, 92-00 is the d16....but i believe different year came out with different specs...i'm not quite sure....and good luck trying to find those parts at the wrecker....anything 90+ for honda is almost impossible to find...
Depends on the model of civic:
92-95:
CX - D15B8
DX/LX - D15B7
VX - D15Z1
SI - D16Z6
96-00:
CX/DX/LX - D16Y7
HX - D16Y5
SI - D16Y8
Now, what model of 95 civic it is determines if you can use any parts from the 6thgen civics. Only a 92-95 Si can use parts from most 96-2000 civics. Unless, you just want to upgrade to a different engine.
Suspension wise, I am not entirely sure but I think the EG chassis(92-95) is more related to the DC chassis (94-01 integra). Something else to consider.

Its the Si, so it uses the D16, I was aware that the D16 was continued all throughout 92-00, just not w. the particulars of how the transmissions bolt up and what not.
I'll have to do more research as to the suspension setup on the car. Apparantly she nailed a cement column w. her front right tire and it bent the axle, most of the right side suspension setup and may or may not have caused transmission damage (that remains to be assesed), from what she related to me the mechanic said that the axle may have been literally yanked out of the tranny, though that sounds a bit vague.
