Replacing a distributer 1999 civic dx

Missing distributer....
Found a replacement engine in a salvage yard car has only 97k the car was just hit in rear. I m going to get the motor tomorrow but can I just put a new distributer in or does it have to align or anything

You'll want the correct distributor.
You'll what a fresh O ring on that so it doesn't leak oil,

and you'll need to set ignition timing just like with any other dist replacement.
