I installed my new CF hood on my car yesterday and it doesnt have holes for the windshield squirters. So Im going to use the windshield washer tank and pump as part of my upcoming DIY intercooler mister. All I need to do is buy some tubing and a small nozle and Im set. Im going to be using my VAFC's vtec controll function in series w/ a WOT switch so that the mister only sprays when Im at WOT above 5000 RPM's.
Any sujestions on where to look for a nozle?

go to a junkyard and pocket the squirters from a 6thgen or something.. as for placement... i would put them right above the opening... on the underside... so u can get more pressure from the pump

I know that you just want a nozzle... but this is on topic so:
Intercooler Mister System
Check this system out. It's pretty nice if you ask me.

Oh and I found some fine mist nozles at lowes that run off of 1/8th tubing @ low pressure. There used for cooling down outdoor areas. Im gonna buy 2 and a T fitting and try it out this weekend when I get my car back from the paint shop. If it works Ill post a DIY. Anyone else have any sujestions?

i'd get a little y fitting and put one on both sides...unless the fogger nozzle disperses water over the whole thing....for those of us that want to keep our windshield washer squirters where can we put a resevoir?
why not use the Pivot Water Spray Controller System

what about if you ran a tube the length of the intercooler with jets every X amount of inches, so that when you spray the water, youd get an evenly fine mist distributed across the intercooler... ill make a pic in paint
Hey Im new to the whole forced induction ideas. This is probably dumb but I assume you are using the mister to cool the outside of the intercooler, not actually the incoming fuel charge? Has anyone thought to rewire an A/C line to help the system get really cold air through the intercooler?

I like the tubular idea but that looks to require a good chunk of water, probable a tank to be mounted in the trunk or something. I'll try to figure out something, hey that AutoSpeed website linked above has some rediculous prices. They're selling the turbo timer I bought over $100 more in American money.
Go to a Subaru dealer and buy some STi intercooler spray nozzles. I have a STi and 1 nozzle mists enough to soak the stock intercooler. IMO, it really isn't a worth wile upgrade though. I live in Arizona where it has been like 115 lately and we have next to no humidity so the theory of the water sprayers should work perfectly here. In all actuality, I notice very little difference when using them.
Also, on thing that is important.... Use ONLY distilled water or you will clog your nozzles.

I did some research on engines and FI and I did find that running the A/C will increase the power due to denser colder air coming in. The only difference is the power increase is related to engine horsepower. You get about a 1% increase for every 10 degrees F you cool it. With most A/C units drawing about 20-40 HP you would need and enginer 3-400 HP to make it effective. Now if only I can get my car to 400 HP then Im all set!
