Rep Power: 0 Turbo swap!
I took off work early today and went to the speed shop that my buddy owns. I sat down with him and had the speaker phone on and talked to Bob at turbo performance. We discssed the absolute best set up for a turbo on my 2k1civic. I gave my T3/T4 turbo and piping and intercooler to my buddy and swapped it out for a T3 turbo and 2 inch piping instead of 2.5 and an 26x6x3.5 intercooler he had. The intercooler I had was to big. Well anyways we just finished it up. It is easy just switching parts. I am still here right now. It is a smaller turbo, so less lag and smaller piping for better velocity and the right size intercooler for less lag but yet the right amount of space to cool the air. I can still get the kit for the same price but a little different parts.
I asked the guy why in the hell did you tell me to use these parts if they are not the best. He said they are the best if you want to eventually get internals. The set up I have now is so far the absolute best he said.
If you have any questions then ask away

Rep Power: 0 You don't need it now. I still use it because I am crazy. Bob said that no one realy knows the actuall strenght of the new d17 rods, so he dosn't recomend over 60 hp than stock. He said he knows a couple of guys that have a 2k1 civic and are pushing 80-125 hp over stock and have not blown anything yet. He said the way I have it set up now is like running a 75 shot of nitrous (the way it feels) He said it should put out about 60-80 hp. I use the 25 shot the whole way through the rpm's from 1000-7000. If I blow somthing, then it gives me a reason to do internals. So I am pretty much running 105 hp over stock i guess. If I go to the dyno i am expecting AROUND 220-250 HP. Wooohoo I hope. I can't wait for internals. This single overhead will be bad ***.
Kepp in mind I am running 7-9 pounds of boost. Mainly 7
I also ordered the N-ter cooler from NX that mounts to the intercooler to keep it cooler using nitrous or co2.

Rep Power: 0 Yep that the manifold I have. It depends on the turbo you use. You might have to cut and weld a new flange on the bottom end. Luckily I did not have to. Any other questions?

Rep Power: 0 numberonehonda: u said that bob doesn't know the strenght of the d17 rods, is it possible to swap rods from prev. gens or get a custom rods done. i know a shop close to where i live that does works with custom rods mainly push rods but they like working on imports as well.

Rep Power: 0 Yes, that manifold will bolt right on to the D17. The 1 and 4 exhaust port are the power ports for the turbo. That manifold will support a number of turbos, but if it is different just have someone weld a new flange on the bottom.
The rods from previous civics will not work in our motor. Plus they are not hardly any stonger unless you use si's. They do not match up. If you have someone who will and can do a good custom job on internals let me in on it. You can then get into the 300 hp range and plus the guy told me. He said they have a 2k1civic d17 block in there shop being rebuilt to produce 350hp. He said he has a banner over top of it saying, "whats up typre r". It means that that motor can beat or keep up with a moded type r motor. If you read some of the new import magazines it states that honda will not make the b series engines anymore. It states that the new civic, rsx, etc.. seres motors are stronger.ahahah

I was planning on dropping a turbonetics T3 turbo because of their ceramic ball bearings and faster spool rates. Would this case need a custom flange?

Rep Power: 0 numberonehonda: i plan on going all-motor first. but that rebuilt d17 block sounds sweet. there's a shop here in stl called rtec/lightspeed that made a custom aluminum manifold for the civics. they showed it off an hin chicago. what was different was that they made it horizontal like the previous gens. supposedly, they got 30hp on that alone. last time i heard they wanted to sell it as a product, completely bolt-on, for like $300-400. there's a pic on this website of it. they too have said d17 is very stong motor

Rep Power: 0 Look at the port openings into the turbo and look at the port openings from the manifold.
Manifold = perfect open square
Turbo = ?????
The port going into the turbo has to be an open square. If it is 2 rectangels or 3 or a circle, then the flange has to be changed. It is no big deal. Send it to me with return shipping fee and I will fix it for you if I have to. Or buy one from my buddy and we will have it made for you already.
The whole kit $3000
New manifold $400

Rep Power: 0 The only bad thing about getting the custom manifold is that if u want to go turbo after that everything has to be customed. I was gonna get it done , but lightspeeed pissed me off so now im going turbo, hopefully soon I will be ordering it through you Numberone, the new one that you got. Anyways he quoted me at 650 installed and everything for it and it gives 15-20 hp, and makes are cars sound lot more powerful like DOHC ive heard it on that red car its a buddy of mine. Its just a manifold that fits D16, and B series customed onto ours.
