Turbo or no Turbo that is the Q
I dunno what to do with the next big upgrade, should i do a stage 2 head and cam? which i was told is port and polish the head and the throdle body, and a new cam which is a about "50 hp", or should i go with a turbo, and if turbo, what are the different kinds of turbo and how much gain am i really going to get, in comparison with the stage 2 head and cam.
lmao, ok, a k20 is the motor out of the rsx, so you have a motor, and only the motor "stock" thats putting out 200 hp, then whatever mods you ad, you gain hp, put a turbo on the k20, and some other stuff and you would be sittin around 300 hp
yes i am a lamo, this is new to me hence "new member", and why i am asking the question. so if i buy the K20 i don't need to get mounts? its going to fit in my car, nor do i need to buy anything else?
youre a "lamo"?
Anyways, goto www.hasport.com and look for the 2001 civic...they have an install article and everything. you do need mounts and a lot of other stuff. But the K20A2 motor is a better platform to run a turbo off of.

well think of it this way...your stock motor turbocharged will put around 200whp (thats wheel horse power). You are basically pushing that stock motor to its limits when you turbocharge, unless of course you build up the motor, and run higher boost. But with the K20A2 motor, 200whp is easily obtained with a race header, intake, exhaust, and the Hondata ECU upgrade. With those 4 boltons, you are not pushing that engine anywhere near its limits. People with the RSX type S are running over 300whp with turbochargers on that car. There are NA kits that put it right around 280whp too.
If you want to go fast...start with a stronger motor.

2002+ immobilizer unit? WTF is that. I have never heard anyone talkin about that before, not even HASport.
to get the car started, you call up Acura, get a code from them for the RSX-S ECU, then that will enable you to drive it over to the Acura dealership and have them input the right code so that you can engage into VTEC. Thats it...atleast thats how HASport explained it to me over the phone.
Either that, or you can buy a Mugen ECU and just plug and play.

hasport uses a rolling computer to bypass the immobilizer unit on the 01, the 01 uses the older style immobilizer unit found in the 98-00 accord
basically to get your car started, you need to have 3 things with matching codes, the immobilizer unit, the key, and the ecu and the 2002+ rsx ecu cannot talk to the 2001 civic immobilizer unit so you have to get compatible units

if all you want is something that will put you into the deep 14's, then turbo your stock engine. If you want into the low 13's, build the stock engine and turbo it. if you want to go 11's or perhaps 10's, get the RSX-S engine, build it, and turbo it.
So basically if you want something to run around and pick up groceries in, and not spend $5000, just turbo the engine you have. you can find the turbo kit here for $2900.

But if you want to race your car, get the RSX engine.
but thats just my $.02

Ok, about the immobilizer thing with a 2001 civic...i just got off the phone with HASport, they said that if you have a 2001 civic, you dont need a 2002 immobilizer unit, Honda should be able to program it all together no matter what. He said thats just what they did initially with their 2001 civic. I asked him just to make sure "so, if i have a 2001 civic, with a 2002 motor, all i need is my keys, and the motor in the car with the stock ECU, and Honda can program it all?" he said "yes, also make sure you have the VIN number too".
