The Best K Swap for EM2 Coupe

Hey everyone I am getting parts list assembled for a Kswap on my 2004 EM2 I am aware of the subframe and other rsx components but I looking for help on what Kseries to actually put in. I know I want to run a turbo to hit the 500hp mark without spending 10k on a NA build that shatters eardrums. I was originally looking at the K24a2/K20 head build but I see a lot of EM2 owners running k20s above the hp range I am looking to hit. Ultimately, wanting I'm looking for is the most straight forward swap with the least amount of headache. I plan to run a Kpro wiring harness to avoid having to pin any of the electrical (ideally). I plan to keep AC but will most likely go w/o PS.

On a side note my current cluster doesn't have an rpm gauge... can I put in a different OEM tach with an RPM readout or just aftermarket?

Thanks for any advice!

Re: The Best K Swap for EM2 Coupe

you posted on the SOHC section D-series.
You want a K-Series.
Moving to proper section.

500 HP on a stock block is doable but not sure how long it would last. I think people usually hang out around the 400 hp range when boosting on OEM internals. You'd need to research more. That much power on a stock trans is asking for trouble.

I have an N/A K24a2/K20a2 frank in my EM2. Plans to boost in the future but who knows how far out that is.

If you're keeping A/C there's almost no reason not to keep P/S, unless you're trying to save space. You have to cut away some of the hood skeleton to clear the pulley if using hydraulic, swap the steering rack and add some wiring if you want electronic. I started with hydraulic P/S and swapped to electronic P/S after a year or so.

I believe it's as easy as swapping the cluster for an '03-'05 LX/EX trim. I've never researched this though, I'm sure there's a thread somewhere.
