information for installing turbo

Hey guys I'm interested in installing a turbo onto my car, but first I want to swap the heads to vtec heads, what other modifications should i do to the internals, aside from the heads to be able to handle that power, also would i need to change the clutch and or flywheel? I want to eventually race the car, so I think i'll need some parts that would handle the extra wear and tear. At the moment I just have the intake, headers and exhaust. I will also be swapping out the intake manifold at the same time.

Re: information for installing turbo

The D17 VTEC head I think has higher compression than the D17 non vtec. SO, that being said your actually better off to keep the head you have now. Get some ARP head studs (very important for turbo), and you can start upgrading the internals. I hope you realize your getting yourself into some serious cash here. Expect to spend 5000+ to get it running and tuned right. If your looking to race it and truly make it fast a Hondata KPRO is also very important. It has the most flexibility for tuning and such. Intake manifolds are hard to come by for the D17 so you might be looking into a custom job unless you swap in the D16Y8 manifold, even then it won't help you much. Don't forget higher flow injectors (like from an RSX or if your looking to go heavy duty PSI aftermarket ones). Changing the flywheel to a lightweight is a good idea. Your exhaust manifold will have to go because obviously it will not work with the turbo.
