K20a2 Engine + K20z1 Tranny into an EM2?

Well the title kinda says it all. my question is has anyone here actually done that? I know the speed sensors need a little work but how much more difficult is it than a full A2 swap? Im hoping to be done within a few months

Not that hard. They bolt up the same and people have used those transmissions in RSX's so they should easily fit in the EM2.

Re: K20a2 Engine + K20z1 Tranny into an EM2?

this is prolly a dumb/noob/repeat question but anyhow I wanna know regarding going from auto to stick..
i know im gonna need---

transmission
ECU
Shifter with cables
master cylinder
Slave Cylinder

manual transmission speed sensor
starter
Axles
clutch pedal assembly
Flywheel
sub frame/lower engine cradle
transmission motor mount Rear and Left
clutch
dash harness
engine harness

(the ones in bold is what im curious about)

Do I need to look for Z1 parts only?? and should those come with the tranny??

those will come with ur tranny that you're buying with the k20.. hopefully that is. starter comes with ur motor, the flywheel will be in ur k20 tranny

Re: K20a2 Engine + K20z1 Tranny into an EM2?

i think i'm getting confused with the slave and master cylinder for the clutch.

the slave cylinder is the one on teh tranny i believe, that one comes with ur tranny.

the master one is up top of hte engine bay that holds ur fluid and etc. (this is the one u need from the 01-05 civic)

this is the master cylinder that tyou need off the 01-05 civic along with the reservoir. you will also need the hard line that connect from this to the clutch line coming from the tranny +slave cylinder (comes with ur k20 tranny)

Re: K20a2 Engine + K20z1 Tranny into an EM2?

it would work but k20 has been done many times and imo is too common on em2s. why not do a b18 swap? it will require more fab work but it hasnt been played out and is still unique.

b18 are illegal swaps if the motor is not the same year or newer.

played out? b18s are old news and don't have the potential that the K has.

My friend has a fully built ls vtec motor that he built, he put down 224whp.

I have a k20a2 i/rh/e/cams/kpro and I put down 242whp.

There's no point, in my opinion of course, to put something in that is inferior just to be different.

In the end you'll still end up with a unique b18 swap that is no where near the k20 or k24. Also, you'll probably be swapping in a motor that has HIGH milleage on it.

I'm getting off topic here, but either help the guy, or don't post.

all good, if you did want to see a b18 swap onto a 7thgen...there is one guy doing it on honda-tech. he lives in canada or somewhere i forgot that doesn't care about emission and motor swaps so i guess it's perfectly legal for him. check it out on honda-tech
