21 psi, race gas, 75 shot and revving to 9k....

Which you aren't going to be running race gas everyday.... so to pretend you daily drive a car at 430 whp on a d17 is kinda silly, and nitrous is a joke, especially when you can only run it with race gas.

that engine has to be bulletproof. Thats a lot of octane/revs/boost all crammed in at once.

yea Andys got an incredible motor as well. Especially considering he built it himself. These two instances show a built D17 has potential. 430hp from 1.7L is simply incredible.

But Supers motor is more show driven, and running all that at once shows its seeminly bulletproof durability. But then Andy is daily driving 25psi which is also mindblowing. Idk the specs of supers build, but with that kind of show etc im suprised hes not making the same NA power Andy is. tune perhaps?

and im not taking sides with either here. I respect you both highly with your contributions to the Single Slammer D17 scene and cars. But you both can come across as condescending douschebags with a unique sense of modesty at times. I know Andy is like the turbo daddy of this site, and mex man also has his share of good DIYs (spring install I believe?)

Looking at the difference, mex is a d17a1 and andy is a d17a2 i believe. idk if aftermarket cams make a difference, but the VTEC a2 motor has 4 more lobes per single camshaft. so I guess that accomadates a small descrepency?

The a2 has the same amount of lobes as the a1. The real difference is in the turbo's and the head. Hector has a full port and polish, my head casting is completely stock.

Ohh I stand corrected. But i could have sworn that a member on here recently posted in a thread about a head conversion that the a2 has 4 more lobes than the a1.

Also, I thought a p&p helped the head get more air into the cylinder?

lol IMO both vics are jus as sick .. to turn this into a competion is jus stupid but i dun consider 9k, Big T, NOS, and 2 signed waivers as a DD. Even Andy said .. at 450 whp this car is nothing but a track ***** .. something u can pound on everyday is a daily driver and that is capped @ ~350whp for our 7thgens i think.. with that said, a car where u hit nos, full boost, and rev to 9k is not a DD but definately a sick *** D17

The type of vtec on the a2 only operates 3 valves per cylinder. When vtec engages, the 4th valve is engaged. The a1 just operates all valves at once, constantly.

Headwork can help, if done properly. It ultimately comes down to the head's ability to flow and the turbo's ability to remain in efficiency range. If your head can't flow, you won't make power. If your turbo is backed up (too small turbine wheel/housing or exhaust) it will restrict flow.

I drove the car almost every day, to work, every meet, including Atlanta.
Everything worked on it on pump gas.
Including all the safety features and A/C everything worked!

It is normal to use high octaine gas for dyno pulls and while racing as a precaution

and with all that look at this engine bay CLEAN


Let's see the other one.
It is attention do detail follow by functionality, is a lot of time and maintenace.

I don't understand how anyone that just say something to debunked someone, it makes it the truth.
