.... I don't think that this is the correct forum for this question....but do you already have the pressure plate? I thought they only sold clutch kits in packages. I'm not an expert on transmission, but something doesn't sound right about matching those two together. I would imagine that the plates are designed to work with an aftermarket clutch..... If you haven't bought it yet, then I would save up and buy the whole thing, you'll get better performance out of it. Also too, if you replace the pressure plate, you have to open up the transmission, then close it back up, if you get an aftermarket clutch in the future, then you'd have to open it back up again. It's probably more economical to just do it once.

Re: Exedy Pressure plate with OEM clutch disk?
lol you are long winded.
But it sounds like you don’t know.
As for the wrong forum I classified my question as a swap question...
Swapping out the original pressure plate... (That’s the logic I applied to this question, that and FI section get the most attention.)
Long story short, I have an aftermarket clutch now and love the stiff pedal "feel" and id like to keep that.
But id, like the clutch to last as long as possible (obviously)
Hence the OEM clutch idea

Re: Exedy Pressure plate with OEM clutch disk?
Short answer is yes, and the OEM disc is an Exedy (aka Daikin) one. Are you running a full-face setup right now or a puck? The only thing would be the wear on the pressure plate (and flywheel) if you're running a puck (3, 6, 4 puck-type) currently. When it comes time to replace the disc, you may have worn down both to the point where they can't be resurfaced. Think brake rotors here. If you're running the Exedy Stage 1 Racing disc, its a full face and you have nothing to worry about. In fact it should last just as long as an OEM one.

Re: Exedy Pressure plate with OEM clutch disk?
I tell you what Clint your short and sweet answers always seem to help me thanks again!!!
No I don’t run a puck clutch. I had a 4 puck and am well aware of the excessive ware on the flywheel and pressure plate.
I do have a stage one Exedy now, but im thinking that my 7lbs flywheel is the reason why im burning through clutches so fast. (It’s not the driver)
Im thinking the engine does not have enough inertia to move it from 0 mph so the engine relies on my clutch to get it going!
I was already aware of our stock clutch being Deikin so I fingered it would just be a simple yes!

interesting analogy, swapping.....hm well there is no dedicated transmission section here so i guess it works.....
well it's good that you got your answer....because when I read the title of this thread, I was like.....hm I've never heard of that before, and became interested.

Yeah, there's a big difference between the 7-lb and the 11-pounder, from a drivability and launch standpoint. I'm really glad I went with the 11-pound Exedy one with that S1 setup.
