Emanage/ Support Tool Problem

I just installed my e-amange I had all the PNP harnesses so it made things easy. However when I went to hook up the cable included with the support tool, it wont hook up to my computer. Did any of you have this problem? I figured it was my computer and it's lack of the correct port, I took my computer to a shop and they said I need an older laptop that has a serial port, they didn't know if there is an adapter.... is there? Also once in, my e-manage kept flassing 1...4 so 14 which is VETC SIGNAL INPUT ERROR.... problem is I dont have VETC, it's set on 4-8-c. I bought my emanage used and I was wondering do I need to unjump jp3, jp6, jp5, jp2, jp1, jp7, jp4???

Check your jumpers, those can assure tons of problems.

The rotary settings for the D17....there have been 2 that have been documented to work: 4-8-C and 4-8-E. It is trial and error at best. No rhyme or reason why one works on something other than another.

You can use a USB to serial adapter, but the e-manage is fussy on which one it will speak to. I like the Iogear one and have never had a problem with it. I have had problems with the Belkin edition.
