a1 to a2 head swap reliability...
I am thinking about doing this swap, but I am debating wheter or not to get a D17a2 ECU or just a VAFC2...
Some think that the ECU is better on the long run, other not since it's a VTEC-E... I am curious to see if one option is better then the other.
People with the swap could you please post your set-up and for how long you are you running without problem? Did you have problems with the swap?
The DIY exist since 2 years, we should be able to gather some reliability info on this swap!

Its about as simple as apple pie.....
The head swap IMO is as good with a Vfac... changing to a D17a2 computer will result in a tow to the garage for the ignition issue

just take the ecu loose (leaving it connected), drive it to honda, have them reflash the EX ecu, then swap ecu's in their parking lot, and let it hang til u get home.
The ex ecu is better because it is made for the car. Theres nothing more reliable than stock. People can easily goof up and change settings they know not to change.

it is far less beneficial to use the factory ecu since it's programmed for fuel economy verses maximizing power output. you'll see more power output by using a VAFC-2 and spend less money doing it.
i use an emanage so the fuel conserving part is still there. (not a damn gas hog thank god)
And i have no problem with my abs or anything. Just my 2nd O2 sensor wire

Ditto, first was n/a + a custom grind cam & emanage.. second was boosted with same setup. Not one hickup at all. You won't realize the full potential until you get it tuned.

so if i do the swap i should get it port and polished and then wat camshaft..stage 1 or n/a? I want to keep it all motor and will then get vafc2. Also would consider getting a new intake manifold and throttle body if the swap goes well. What do u guys think?
ive been running the mini-me swap for a little over a year now. Havent had a single problem with it
Only problem i had was actually from the emanage trying to control the vtec. All i had to do was wire the vtec back to stock
And thank you for the welcome
I will post some pictures of my car here shortly. I have been enjoying driving it the past few days because it was down for soo long
I may take some pics tomorrow.
