d17 cam gear question

im in the middle of a head swap i was wondering if the non vtec came gear works on the d17a2 cam? or if there the same or what??

I'm not sure, but this is what you can do:
Call Honda Part and verify if a1 and a2 camgear have same part#, if they're the same then you get your answer.
Same you can do by contacting AEM and see if theit aftermarket cam gears have same part #.

they are the same im almost positive. cam gear has nothing to do with vtec. edit, i looked up the part numbers, they are the same

Yeah they are for sure the same i swapped gears all the time and ran my aem 5 bolt cam gear on my lx head and then swapped it to my ex head. Your good to go.

If thats the case you are also saying the crower cam made for an EX will fit an LX. I have been wanting to get the stage 2 turbo cam but did not want to pay the price for an EX head. Also what about the crower valve train upgrade? Will this fit a LX head also?

um, the cam is different for vtec vs non-vtec. cannot swap it just because the cam gear fits on the end. not sure on what parts of the valve train are different.

I was doing one of those quick read things and it didnt click you guys were talking about only the cam gear. Back on track now. Thanks gearbox.
