2k1 ex vs 2000 gti... (not vr6 or 1.8t)

alright this kid at my school just bought a 2000 gti, not the vr6 or 1.8t, i forget the exact model but he said its got the same hp as our car stock. now i have an auto, and he has a stick. i have a tenzor exhaust and injen cai, and am ordering dc ceramic 4-2-1 header as well as pullies and cam gear and the apex s-afc. will i be able to beat him if i have all that and he just gets an intake and exhaust? his birthdays still not for a few months so hell get his lisence then, and hes already all "yeah ill kick your *** so hard" so i gotta prove him wrong. let me know what you think...and for people who hate street racing, well be doing street night at the tracks in atco nj!

kid's parents buy him a car a few months before his bday? wtf? hehe

anyway, yeah, the GTI is only available in 1.8t or vr6, it could be a base golf 2-door hatchback, which has a pretty anemic n/a 2.0l, you could be able to beat him stock

Unlike our cars, they have low-end torque. Their power is from around 2500 RPM's to around 5800 RPM's. And, I hate to say it, but those cars have pull even in 5th gear!!!

I have a friend that has a '91 GTI that was an SCCA car...naturally aspirated, but modded out the ***!!! He'd hand my *** to me easily.

If you do end up racing him, which I wouldn't suggest, plan on getting beat. You have an auto and can't guarentee red-line and VTEC engagement in every gear (which wouldn't mean much in our cars anyway, but...)

I don't know about 2000 but I looked at a gti that was 98 and it came with a NA 4 2.0.

My mom has a 1999 Jetta with the same motor.

my friend has a GTI, and it doesnt say 1.8T or VR6 on the back of his just GTI, i think thats what your asking? My friends is a 2.0 5 spd and when we zoom on the highway we're pretty much neck and neck..but racing might be a different story
