Hate to do... it but my (gay) friend has an SRT-4 with an aftermarket turbo, more fuel, so and so forth! He tells me he took a long trip from Phoenix to Flagstaff (two hours). The whole trip he "held speeds" at 150mph to 160mph!
My question how hot does the averadge oil fed turbo get?
How hot does the averadge aftermarket oil fed turbo get?? Hotter or Cooler?
Could these hot temps harm his turbo holding these speeds for so long??
Sorry if the questions are amiture but I would like too lough in his face if his turbo is gona blow up in the near future!

yea, i highly doubt that his car could even maintain speeds that fast, there is a rev limiter ya know...
so when you bitch slap him, make sure you put your body weight into it at a 45 degree angle, and follow through too.

He has a stage 2 srt-4 setup wich removes the speed limiter! Also he has an aftermarket turbo that he hits 25psi.
You guys never even answered ANY of the questions! Which is the purpos of this thread!

with or without aftermarket oil lines, the temperature of the oil will be proportional to the amount of heat that is generated by the work of the turbo and motor...
if your friend has coolant lines or has an oil cooler running through the aftermarket turbo, it might reduce temperature of the oil but not by very much...
i highly doubt that he held that sort of speed through arizona without some sort of overheating issue especially if he was passing through the desert and while in boost the whole way. it's not his turbo that'll go first, it's his motor...

I might be wrong though.....
May be it was 150 kilometers per hour? It is more reasonalble.
As far as the oil temp goes, it is going to be higer than normal - with SRT turbo not getting direct air flow, since its engine installed opposite to d17.
I'm happy that you friend's surved that insane trip he's told you abot.

the stage 2 does not remove the speed limiter, its goverment controlled and mopar the company that makes the stages would never make such a thing, but what the stage 2 does do for him to go a little faster , it moves the REV LIMITER from 6200rpm to 6500rpm..
source of info
mopar.com
p.s. i bet his gear ratio wouldnt not let him get to 150MPH +

He did not go much over 150, unless he messed with his ratios, but that would not makes sense. Nobody does that crap, he probably hit like 160 for a couple minutes and got lucky he did that. His car is garbage, anyways. DEATH TO NEON POS!!!!!!!!

My buddy had his SRT sent to him in Germany when he was stationed there. The car was bone stock. And he was able to cruise at 150mph on the autobahn for long lengths of time. He drove a 130 mile distance from the airport to his base. And he drove at 150 the whole time. I know this because his mother and her friend were in the car with him. And he was trying to scare the crap out of them since they were out to visit.
But to the question... The exhaust temps on erics car were around 1250* f. And when you upgrade the turbo, the temps drop significantly. But with the stage II, he has the stock turbo. Stage III is where they swap out the turbo.

I just thought it sounded off...Oh wait read post again, 150-160, thought it was higher...No messing with gears
But I did not belive that he held it for that long with upgraded turbo, but I guess it is possible. I still think he is lucky he did not overheat.
The only thing I really have against the neon besides that it is the cheap, which is actually its strong poin too, is the look. I could have probably gotten one, but I did not like the looks.

I think it's bit of an exageration, 135-140 sounds reasonable but 150-170mph is a lil excessive. I usually do 135-140mph most of the way to the dragstrip then again i'm n/a, without an EGT gauge I would be a lil uneasy of travelling at those speeds.
