quick o/t ?:
what is the importance of EGT gauge? why do people recommend them?
roughly what is too hot and what can cause that?
thanks to whoever clears this up for me.

You should monitor EGT's with a WB O2 to determine best torque without EGT's raising and power falling off. Once you determine lowest EGT and best power, you can now match the same A/F in any other time in the RPM bad easier now.
Edit: With a wideband you getting half of the combustion full picture. Coupled with an EGT, now your getting all of the info

get wideband and egt
Put the money you were going to spend on the water temp toward wideband, prob the best gauge to have besides boost gauge.
edit:You already have water temp? get the wideband before egt

This is more a forceful bit of encouragement more than a flame, so will you PLEASE figure out what the hell it is you're doing before you do it. Its very obvious from the 3 threads you started on the subject you know little to nothing about turbos, and its a pretty dangerous place to be in if you're trying to boost an engine. Ignorance and stupidity aren't solved by throwing money at the problem, your turbo specialist at your buddy's shop isnt gonna fix your car if it breaks on the side of the highway, nor is he going to know the ins and outs of your car like you would if you knew what was going on yourself. So you better figure out what you're doing before you install that thing. None of these complete bolt on systems are complete, there's lots of little details to know about and if overlooked basically spell disaster.
Get the book about turbos by Corky Bell. Read the entire turbo FAQ, and read some of the turbo FAQs elsewhere on the internet before you even begin to think about starting to look at the possibility of trying to bolt this thing on.
You'll thank yourself when you're not picking up the rods off the road, or cleaning oil out of the entire engine bay.

Yeah if you goto borders there will be like 3-5 books on turbo and supercharging cars. There are also other tuner books that have soem good information. there is also a book on tuning the aem ems, which i have yet to be able to sit and read through. I keep putting it off, cause it is so complicated to learn.

id say a wideband a/f is a MUST for you because you obviously arent aware of whats going on so as long as you understand what an air/fuel mixture is you can atleast tell if your turbo/fuel system is completely messed up.
